I think I understand what's going on here.  I don't think he uses a capture program, he takes pictures using his camera on an sd card and then imports them into his editing program.  This is exactly the same way I make my films.  But, he needs to use a remote to take the pictures, not by using the picture button on the camera. Because he doesn't use a remote, every frame he captures, he "bumps" the camera by pressing the picture button.  In my opinion, he needs to look up if his camera can use a remote.  If it can, order a remote, and if it can't, get a new camera, such as a webcam to use with a frame capture program.

Why are you filming on the floor? Well, back when I filmed on the floor, I did that because I didn't have any table space (the table that I animate on now had my Lego City setup on it back then). It might be the same case with you. All you need to do is clean off a table or desk that has stuff on it. There you go, now you have space.
