Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

He means how do you post a link, but have the link read as something of the poster's choice?  Like, if i wanted this:

Google

to link to Google.  I've actually been trying to figure that out.

I don't get it.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

I'm trying to make a custom player, to actually upload your films to BiM, and play them on BiM.

and smeagol, could you make the forums have embedded script available?

so like I want to put that embed stream youtube video on here.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

Uploading films to BIM would need more storage space = more costs = more adverts.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

If BiM does ever get a built in player it will not look like that.  The interface is reminiscent of something made by the fine folks at Brickfilms.com.  There are no plans to allow users to upload films at BiM, there are plenty of great, free services available such as Youtube or Vimeo, there is no need to unnecessarily stress our bandwidth.

Edit:
@rsteenoven: currently Schlaeps is paying for the server costs, at this point ad money will be used exclusively for prizes.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

fine. I deleted the file.

could we by any chance make donations?

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

Right now it does not looks we will need members to donate anything, but I do not own the site, I am only in charge of programing the directory, so any sort of book keeping is out of my hands.  Right now the most important thing for BiM is releasing the directory.

Weird, I'm not sure what has happened, it looks to still be in place but isn't working.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

Can you please change the settings of the really annoying 60 seconds between each post limit. 10 Seconds or 15 would do.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

I agree with Si. Also later in the year or years when this site takes off, we should put in a democratic system. I think members who have been on the site for 6 months or more should be able to vote for who they want as moderators. Also to control the elections I also think only members who have been on the site with a user name for 1 year should be able to run.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

No, this is not a government, this is a website. Elections just add unnecessary drama. It would be best for admins to hand select who they would wish to be moderators.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

What Spudster said.  As you can clearly see, this website is making fine progress without the unneeded drama of "democracy."  This is a privately-owned website, and the best method of management is through administration through a select number of individuals.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

Yeah, I think we should make it clear that though this is a community website, we're not going to start any kind of democratic system. I think you all can trust us to listen to what you have to say, run the site in a way that satisfies most people, and to appoint new people in power positions when the time comes.

Re: The State of Bricks in Motion

The elections system completely destroyed the structure of the Brickfilms community.  No way are we bringing that back.
