Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

I absolutely love some of those in camera effects.  The fire, stunning!  The sound wave thingy at 3:16, outstanding!  The pan around him as he is frozen, sword extended, my favorite part!  Him exploding out of the stone!  All of the drumming!  And some of the other effects, loved 'em!  The motion blur as he was running was amazing!  The CGI world was cool, the fades were convincing and the lighting when it looked like spotlights was sweet!  There is so many memorable parts that I didn't take the time to write about that were awesome as well.

How was the blur effect done?

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

Simply incredible. I've been waiting months and months for this film and it's finally here. Thank you NXT.

Used to be 'Caidence'

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

Quite excellent. My expectations were rather high given that this is, like, one of my favorite songs ever, but you've managed not to disappoint despite some flaws others have pointed out. All told, a worthy companion to the song.

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

I loved it. mini/wink
It took a long time to make it right?

My only gripe was the paper guitar ... if only Series 4 Minifigs were there 2 years ago, you could of used the punk rocker guitar.

Again, I don't really think it would have fit into the video, as the instruments were supposed to look like the actual tour instruments.

Toward the end, there was a very visible reflection of a greenscreen in the red and orange bricks that made up the fire.

Yeah, I've only just started with greenscreening, so I'm not very good yet. Unfortunately, LEGO reflects so much light, which makes it very difficult to hide the green spill perfectly. My live action greenscreening is much better.

I used two things. Sometimes I used Photoshop with masks and directional blurs, whereas other times I used the RealSmart Motion Blur plugin for After Effects.

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

I couldn't really focus on the movie the first time I saw it, some people were in the room, talking. The second time I could fully appreciate it. I really liked the animation of the percussions. About the paper guitars, there was really nothing that bothered me about that. Now, about the lyrics: since english isn't my first language (actually it's more like my third) at first I couldn't really tell what was going on, I thought it surely had something to do with the lyrics; the second time I watched it, I saw the relation, and, as other already said, sometimes it was a bit too literal. Anyway, the visuals were impressive, and I liked the song (yeah, it was the first time I heard it from start to end, as I'm not really a fan of coldplay). I can say I enjoyed every shot of the film like you hoped in the description, so you did well your job. More than enjoyed, actually. I wasn't desperately crying on the floor nor screaming of joy in the street, but it inspired me. It wasn't perfect, it had it's low parts, but that's due to the fact that some parts where from 2 years ago and you changed. I was having high expectations, and waited long (although I missed it for one day), you didn't disappoint me (well, to be honest I don't know what I was expecting, but I thought there was going to be more. More what? I don't know). Well, I tried to tell everything I wanted to say, but that's impossible for me. So I'll just say great job and hope to see more things like this in the future.
Great job, I hope to see more things like this in the future.

That was just...

Brilliant.

The giant brick hand on the giant brick guitar strings was awesome.

Nice one.

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

One thing I like about this is that I could see, as the film progressed, your animation slowly getting better.  It's neat, because it shows how much of an awesome brickfilmer you've become over a relatively short time.  Kudos to you my friend.

I have to say I'm so jealous of your technique that is so incredible. mini/wink
I can't say much more tham what ohers have said. I agree with the general thoughts of the very, very literal interpretations of the lyrics. I find that the interrpretations become less obvious as the film progresses.

Incredible job, NXT. Keep it up. mini/smile

Re: Coldplay- Viva La Vida

This film is perhaps one of the best LEGO music videos out there, and that is no small statement.  With some stunning animation and lighting along with some great cinematography, this film is definitely one of your best.  Though it felt sort of strange to see the quality improve as time when on, it was easy to overlook and only showed all the more how much you have improved these last two years.  Can't wait to see more from you. mini/smile

Great job, NXT!

When I first saw that beautiful Lego globe in the beginning, I immediately knew this would be something very nice.

I loved the effect at 0:46. Beautiful film.

How long have we been waiting for this? Two? Three years?
