Are you looking to use this camera only for animation? If so I suggest a different lens. I have a Canon 550D. I use it for live action filming, photography and animation. It's great for all of those however the standard 18-55mm lens can be a bit limiting for animation. You can only get so close to a minifig before it blurs and you need a macro filter.
Here is a brickfilm I made with an 18-55 lens. Coffee With The General Take note of the shot at 1:00. That is as close to a close up you can get and that's a midshot. Now it's possible to digitally resize it but that can degrade quality.
I'm not a genius on lenses so I'm learning as I go but I happen to know what Mobile used on Egyptian Holiday, he used a Nikon 50mm 1.8 and a 28mm 2.8 with macro filters.
