Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

Seriously, who reads the reviews? I think the majority of those who read them are the BIM members and the brickfilmers who have created the movies that are on the directory.... So, the high standards are for the members who are waiting for a review on their films? They are for the members who are saying on this thread that the directory is in trouble?

We're waiting for some changes... Can't wait mini/tongue

P.S. The Annoying's idea is very good.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

I get the impression that it's mainly about setting the standard to new visitors, who maybe aren't interested in making brickfilms but like the hobby and want to know more about it. It's also to appeal to new visitors who do want to make brickfilms: by making every aspect of this site professional, they'll treat it with higher regard. I remember thinking that Brickfilms.com was run by a company back when I first joined (before it was run by a company), not a group of guys who like the hobby and made a website about it.

I actually like to read some reviews. he he
Sometimes I just go through the film directory and check some stuff and reviews, possibly watch some of them after reading some.
So, I do at least. xD
I think they do a good job of helping you decide to watch or not. And that's their purpose is it not? mini/smile

P.S. The Annoying's idea is very good.

Thanks. mini/sunnies

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

About Annoying's idea: I think that it would be even more difficult for the staff to choose the reviews and it would take more time to see new films in the directory. Why? Because other than watch the film, they now have to read also the reviews of movies, and probably more of them about the same film, and plus they have to choose the best. They already have a queue of 500 films, I wouldn't like seeing a queue of more than 500 reviews if I were in the review panel.
I have no other solutions to offer than the ones that have been posted here, but I don't think any of them can really solve the problem (I honestly don't see much of a problem). Right now the only solution is patience, and brickfilming should help having some.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

"Who reads the reviews?" is the kind of attitude we're trying to avoid encouraging.  They're intended to be for people who want to see some good brickfilms and are looking for recommendations, which is why they're written for prospective viewers, not the director of the film.  The 'releases' forum is intended for giving the director feedback. The majority of visitors to this site don't have accounts or post, they just browser the films and forums.

Dude, just because you don't read them doesn't mean everyone else don't.

You do have a point there.
Though, I think it would be faster to read a few reviews rather than type a really good one.
I've never written a brickfilm review, but when I write a well thought out paragraph or so, it takes quite a bit of time to think out and type.

I've probably spent about five minutes on this post. I probably could have read several of similar size in this time.

But I still may be wrong.

I've not an ''attitude'', it was just a question... I am entitled to my opinion mini/wink I agree with Ludvig.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

Perhaps your grasp of the English language is failing you there; I wasn't meaning to shut you down but took your question to mean the reviews don't really matter that much because nobody reads them.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

I think I may as well stay out of this discussion. I'd say Smeagol and whoever else will have something planned.

Perhaps... Sorry mini/sad

The members enjoy having constructive feedbacks and rating on their films... I don't want to offend anyone here but the Review Panel makes the most helpful reviews, and some of the 'releases' comments are unhelpful.

The best help I got was the Aaron Bulger's review for my Mr. Bad Frame, on the Panel Review.

Just look at the JaredSM's comment, on this thread:

One word... unhelpful.

While I don't think this is true, you can help fix this problem by writing more critiques, and specifically asking for critiques when you post a video (I think you should be able to edit this in the Release thread after you submit the film to the directory, so it doesn't show up in the Director's Comments).

I always enjoy your brickfilm comments, LGFB. mini/smile
If it be my video, or another's. You do a good job of typing some usually short, but nicely done bit of type, then go on by listing your #/10 ratings on every category in bold.
I love your style to that. mini/smile

Why can't there be moar peoples like that!?!? D: Grrr

You're right. I'll make more critiques, but I hope that members will do the same thing mini/wink

I'm not a great reviewer Annoying, but Thank you mini/smile

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

A bit of a bump, but I noticed that some recent films in the directory not recommended don't have the little numbers showing how good each aspect of the film was. Is this, like the review, going to be especially reserved for 'Recommended' films?

Actually they do. I just checked.

EDIT: Here, I just copied and pasted the official rankings from Hoth Battle:

Overall:     8
    Story:     5
    Animation:     6
    Cinematography:     8
    Effects:     8
    Sound:     8

(Copy and paste failed to put them correctly) mini/tongue

But there still there, and that's the most recent film.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

Wha? The first four films from the top down in All Films listed in the directory don't have animation, cinematography, ect. ratings.

EDIT: Hoth Battle is a Reccomended film. The ratings don't appear for the first four films listed when you change it to All Films.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

I mentioned that a while back and ANP, that video is recommended. mini/tongue

Oh never mind. xD
Haha

Disregard everything I said, my mistake. Sorry. Misread/misunderstood something.

Re: When's the next time films are reviewed?

I believe they stopped doing that to save time.
