Topic: Adobe After Effects Problem

Hi,

I've recently purchased the Adobe Production Premium CS5.5 package, but am having problems with After Effects. For some reason when I play it goes at extremely slow speeds, that are unworkable with. So if anybody knows of an answer to this problem, I'd love to hear it, and if not, can somebody answer me these questions instead?

1. Might it be because of my Mac?
2. For people who use CS5.5 or CS5 - what Mac do you use?
3. Do you usually need to render it before playing clip?
4. Does the Cache have anything to do with it?

Thanks,
Onion.

Re: Adobe After Effects Problem

You MUST have 64 bit on your computer. Also, it depends upon the quality/resolution of your video. You will need to have the monitor in the program set to a lower resolution for it to run more smoothly. It worked like that for me in Premiere.

OSX is 64 bit I believe. What mac are you using? A macbook? IMac? Specs would help.

I have the following:

Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD

Any help? It's an iMac, by the way.

Ah, there's the thing. Why do you have an iMac for Adobe?

Excuse me...? mini/confused

1. I didn't buy the iMac for Adobe
2. Macs and Adobe are completely compatible.
3. Could you elaborate?

Re: Adobe After Effects Problem

Are you simply pressing the Space bar to play?
If so, you need to press Zero on the number pad.
That will render a RAM preview, instead of just scrubbing through.

Now have you tried playing the video again, Onion.  Because "scrubbing through" and pressing 0 on the video both renders so if you played the it again, it shouldn't play as slow.

Re: Adobe After Effects Problem

ae is a ram whore, 2gb won't go far. if ram previewing takes a while then just set the viewing resolution to half or quarter.

Re: Adobe After Effects Problem

looks like everyone's pretty much answered your question, but take a look at this, it'll help you get started with after effects.

I think you will need at least 4GB of memory for AE to work.
