Topic: Dolly Zoom test

I tried animating the 'Hitchcock Effect', or dolly zoom, yesterday. I'm not entirely satisfied, though I learned a lot while doing it.

Anyone have any pointers?

I never plan on buying anything when I go to the Lego Store.
Strangely enough, I always wind up finding something that makes me ditch those plans.

Re: Dolly Zoom test

Ooohhhh, me likey. Anyways, it was good, but, bump up the FPS, also, the quality looked bad when it zoomed in, but, w/e. mini/lol

Anyways, great job. Can you post a pic of the rig?

Persist.

Re: Dolly Zoom test

Though not executed flawlessly, I enjoyed it, having wanted to see something like this for a while. I'd love to see a bit of a slower zoom, though.

Re: Dolly Zoom test

Thanks all!
I tried the dolly zoom again today in a better setting (my desk, versus the kitchen table.) I shot it longer and in a higher resolution, so the quality is better, it has a higher framerate, and it's a bit slower. (though there are some set bumps and I had to cut it short, but eh....)
Test 2

MOL: here ya go mini/smile
It's simply the 9k on a brick base, which slides along the smooth desk. (I use the studs by the side as a measurement and to keep the camera straight.)

Re: Dolly Zoom test

Wow! Much better. I think the camera bumps defused the effect a bit, but, get it a bit steadier, and, it will be awesome!

You go girl! (I've always wanted to say that mini/tongue )

Persist.

Re: Dolly Zoom test

They look really good! Although you really need to eliminate all the bumps before it will look effective. An idea would be to make a track for your camera cradle along a baseplate.
