Topic: Lightning: An Electric Topic

A lot of Brickfilmers out there like making Star Wars films, but barely any know how to make electric shocks, or force lightning!  The only really decent job I have seen done with this is Smeagol's "Bane of the Sith."  Does anyone know how to make decent electric shocks and lightning?  If so, please let me know!  (I have an idea for a mad scientist film, and one shot requires electrical shocks.)

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

Search up 'How to do lightsabers' and figure it out from there.

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

But that would be for LIGHTSABERS!!!!!  We are talking about ELECTRICITY!!!!!  The only tutorials I have ever seen have been for still shots, NOT for animating.  mini/eh  Also, are there any programs that can do this easily???

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

Don't you catch the drift? Lightsaber effects ARE electric effects also.

And yes, expensive ones.

EDIT: No need to get mad... mini/rolleyes

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

I can do it after effects, if you'd like. But you probably won't.

Persist.

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

After Effects can do it well. Aside from that, I'm really not sure. By far your best option is to have a member of the site who owns AE do it for you (hint ^).

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

What does "AE" stand for, and how much does After Effects cost?  Is there a free program that does this pretty well?

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

Does GIMP work well for this?  Have you tried it?

Re: Lightning: An Electric Topic

basically, you go to the paintbrush tool, select sparks, and draw it on every individual frame. If you dont want to do that, then get Effectslab Pro. Sure, its 150 dollars, but I saw on the download page you can get two layers of ghostbuster rays. and if you dont mind the watermark, they have a free trial.
