Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Okay well I'm two days behind on judging. But I think I can safely say:

Spudster U R WINNAR.

Despite the fact that no one else entered so there weren't many (read: any) entries to compete with, I really liked the shot and the concept. The focus worked really well, I don't think there's much to say about the lighting it's uniform and doesn't detract from the subject but that's about it. I suppose you could say the shadowing on the top half of his face is cool but it's not particularly distinct, which is what I would say for all the lighting there. The colours are fairly washed out and I'm not sure if I'm going to read to far into it and say that it's because he's tuned out from the world therefore there's not so much colour, or if it's just the style you were going for and any indepth reading into it is just !@#$ery. Pose is good as well. A+ for style.

...Sorry mum.

Blissful

Don't know if that one's been done yet or not.

A close-up of a normal smiling (but old) minifig face. Sergio Leone style. Pure zen. Very blissful mini/lol

Oddly enough, the theme instantly made me think of the closing shot of Cognizance, and now I can't get that out of my head.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Dunno, the sky looks sort of garish to me, but that might be my personal taste.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I like the sky, but the hair seems a bit weird to me...

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

The hair is the old ponytail hair. (y'know, on 2 sides). Maybe that's the reason you find it weird.
And the sky... is personal taste. I wanted to make it look Happy.

I don't mind that frame, but it doesn't really wow me either.
Anyway, here's my entry:

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

The sky seemed to get too dark, too fast. That's one of the only things I think could be better.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I think it's pretty cool. I might have framed the minifigure more centered (vertically, not horizontally)

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Great cinematography there Kim but my only complaint is the sky seemed to dark.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Yeah, I'm not quite happy with how the background turned out so I might still redo it.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Brilliant shot, only thing is, I can't quite tell what it is supposed to be.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I love that shot. I think because of the framing you subconsciously think he is of a higher state than you. Brilliant work, but I must admit that I think the sky should be a bit brighter on the edge.
