Topic: Halloween Special test shot

Hey guys, I've edited this shot a lot to get it the way I wanted it to be, yet I am still not satisfied.

It may seem ok to you, but ARGH IT ISN'T PERFECT TO ME. Also, what do think of the darkness? It needs to look like night time, but I wanted the quality to look good so I framed the light like it was day time and fixed it with color correction.

Re: Halloween Special test shot

As for the animation, the walking looked a little wonky to me, but the rest was great.  I usually don't like using color correction to make things look dark, but in this case it looks pretty good.

But you are a perfectionist, (which is a good thing) so pretty good may not be good enough for you mini/tongue

Re: Halloween Special test shot

I liked the lighting effect, it really sets the mood for the movie.

Re: Halloween Special test shot

Well, I know CompositeLab Pro has a lot oif color correction techniques, becase I'm trying out the demo of it, and it works very well, so I'm buying it for christmas. mini/smile

I think a lot of my shots turned out really well because of the lighting: I'm only using one light, and it's florescent blue, so it works really well. Try using less lights, and making them a bit farther away from the set.

Needs to be a little bluer, as BG said. What else is it you're not satisfied with?

With all due respect Noodle, I don't want you here. - Ratboy Productions

Yes! That's it, it should be bluer, like moonlight. I'll see if I can pull it off ok, I'll post another clip shortly.
Thanks, guys!

I think it came out OK.

Now THAT'S a lot better mini/smile

Re: Halloween Special test shot

that looks good! except there is something a little off about the fig's walk...looks like he has to pee and is trying not to move to much (not sure of the right term)...STIFF yes stiff, the fig looks a bit stiff, makes him look plastic...oh wait that doesn't really work...makes him look stagnant...no because he's moving...agg you get the point!

Re: Halloween Special test shot

Maybe I'm just color blind, but that looks quite purple.

Re: Halloween Special test shot

Yes, this time it was a bit too blue, so it turned out more purple-ish. Try a lighter blue light, so that it looks more like a moon.
(Wow. I can't belive I'm actually giving filmguy advice on how to improve!)

Ahh, wow I'm watching it on a different computer and it does look very purple.
Would making it look more blue help? Should I post another test? mini/tongue

EDIT: okey doke. I'm posting another test.

Re: Halloween Special test shot

That was pretty good. Like some people said, a little purplish, and the walk seemed odd, maybe just because it wasnt showing his legs? Im not sure why.

Anyways, FilmyGuy, how did you do the camera move?

Tripod. All of my animations are shot on a tripod.
And I have a feeling you're right. Maybe it came out crappy because I couldn't see the legs when I was animating. Hmm, idk. Don't really want to the shot over again though, took me forever.
I'll post the test I forgot to post in a second, guys.

Re: Halloween Special test shot

Yeah. I was just thinking that next time if you do a shot like this, maybe do a wide shot and then crop it? I'm not sure how to fix that.
