Topic: Question on pixels

I just got the QCPro 9000 and I'm wondering what exactly most of you guys shoot at. I've usually used 640x480. Is this a good pixelation to shoot at, or should I go for something better?

Re: Question on pixels

I have gone at 640 by 480, but now I'm changing to a much higher pixelage (HD). The downside is that the uncompressed file is way bigger.

Re: Question on pixels

I usually use 800x600.

Re: Question on pixels

@BG: are you now using 960x720? Or is it 1280x720?

@mcoov: that looks pretty good so far.

Re: Question on pixels

You'd want to stick to 640x480 for a while, until you improve some more and when you actually need HD.

Re: Question on pixels

Thanks LMP. That's my strongest idea for pixelage right now.

Re: Question on pixels

i use 800x600 thinking to move on a bigger size.

Re: Question on pixels

I usually shoot VGA (640x480) but I'll shoot HD when I uh well... shoot HD.

Re: Question on pixels

Isn't it called an aspect ratio/resolution that you shoot at? Anyway, I always shoot on 1280x720 and sometimes 1920x1280. But I don't use LEGO all the time.

this was only for brickfilms. But like you, I don't always use LEGO. Live action is fun too.

Re: Question on pixels

Why wouldn't you use a high resolution? No one likes low-res videos. Shoot as high as you can. mini/smile

You can shoot at high-res, but it takes up more space. If you have less than 150GB on your drive, you're gonna slow down your computer. Now, if it's a secondary drive, you're good to go. I have an external drive with 500GB, and that's a BIG help with my film making.

Re: Question on pixels

I'm saving space and I don't think people need to see my films in hi-res yet. When I get better, they'll be at a higher res.

Re: Question on pixels

@reeldp: I'm going to shoot at 1280 by 720, or even more if I can, becuase all my films so far are just small things that aren't really good. I'm making a long video that will be way, way higher though. I'm thinking 1600 by 1200 from now on actually, becuase that will make it look way better, even out of focus.

Re: Question on pixels

@BG: I checked those two out. They seem pretty good. Good luck on your video.

Shooting at high resolution isn't an excuse to shoot out of focus... it isn't a magical fix for any issues with your technique. There's no point shooting at high resolution until you can shoot well at low resolution.
