@reeldp: I'm going to shoot at 1280 by 720, or even more if I can, becuase all my films so far are just small things that aren't really good. I'm making a long video that will be way, way higher though. I'm thinking 1600 by 1200 from now on actually, becuase that will make it look way better, even out of focus.
Shooting at high resolution isn't an excuse to shoot out of focus... it isn't a magical fix for any issues with your technique. There's no point shooting at high resolution until you can shoot well at low resolution.
Why wouldn't you use a high resolution? No one likes low-res videos. Shoot as high as you can. :)

- Leo
You can shoot at high-res, but it takes up more space. If you have less than 150GB on your drive, you're gonna slow down your computer. Now, if it's a secondary drive, you're good to go. I have an external drive with 500GB, and that's a BIG help with my film making.
Isn't it called an aspect ratio/resolution that you shoot at? Anyway, I always shoot on 1280x720 and sometimes 1920x1280. But I don't use LEGO all the time.

-Don
this was only for brickfilms. But like you, I don't always use LEGO. Live action is fun too.
