LEGO was in a financial crisis about 8-10 years ago, and it has always, and always will be overpriced.

Yeah, absolutely 100% no chance you could build a great mechanism to for a construction crane, draw bridge or anything like that, just ridiculous to think something like that.

No we can't all agree on that, Space Police 3 is a great step forward. I'm sure if the majority of people thought the original space lines sucked and classic-space.com didn't exist, you'd have a very different opinion on them. If Space had never been released before, and was being brought out now, you would have an extraordinarily different stand point on LEGO space.

They're utterly useless if you're looking at it from the playability standpoint, kids will want to put visors on their helmets when they're playing with some police chase set.

As apposed to what? rubber tires?

Guys, LEGO isn't getting worse at all, you just want to think it is so you can whine and !@#$% about it. Bloody grow up and stop complaining, this is a really silly thread just to complain about a company which is getting better and better.

Ditto what Riley said. You can't just "rerelease the classic space sets". Think about it, what sorta kids do you think it would appeal to? Nostalgic ones?   The design style of today is way different to even 10 years ago. The MAIN thing wrong with LEGO today is quality, as I mentioned earlier. Colour consistency has gone way down, not as much care is taken in packing anymore so that stickers (yuk) and instructions get squashed, and now theres these terrible minifig battlepacks and things using made-in-China minifigs of a substantially lower quality.

Although LEGO shouldn't just step back in time, early on in this decade was a pretty good time to be a LEGO fan. The greys and browns hadnt changed yet, the Legends were coming out, the reliable 9v trains had been out for a while and had got a firm footing, LEGO had interesting stuff on their website and in their mag, sets had way more interesting and printed pieces, minifigs were still all yellow, the LEGO stores started opening and most importantly, the pieces were all nicely uniform in colour (except for the 2004 Knight Bus). Maybe it's just nostalgia from my (younger) childhood, but I liked it better when LEGO wasn't so cheap (as in stingy, not inexpensive). These days they change things annoyingly for no apparent reason (end of 9v trains and start of RC and then PF, swap from the almost 20-year old 9v electrical system to stupid PF, new window and door system, more juniorised pieces, sudden focus on !@#$ premises such as Speed Racer, sudden shift from RCX to NXT and now a few years later to NXT2) all seemingly to save money, or something like that. The fact that their factory in Baar, Switzerland shut, and new ones in the Czech Republic and Mexico have opened don't help the quality issues either.

Setwise, I'm pretty happy with what's going on atm. I don't like the idea of these new licenses (POP, BEN10 and TS), and I still like HP and the c. 2001-2006 SW sets a lot, but there's still plenty to keep me occupied in terms of Jamie Berard's sets. If I ever get bored of what LEGO is offering then I guess I'll turn my attention back to the past. There's still boatloads of sets I'd like from the past that I don't have yet.

Mutuceba is absolutly right. lego probably know that people animate with their toys but the kids that don't animate can't just not have lego sets because the company decided to make all the sets for animators. although... i do feel lego should have things like accessories. thats it. a set just filled with accessories. and i know that lego have the minifigure set but i feel it is pretty high priced and i know people will now tell me it's not but i feel i shouldn't wast 45 euro on somethin that has a load of minifigs. i don't have many. i have a load of workers. and it's hard to make a movie about a guy walkin' down the street when he is wearin overalls and a hard hat! i have a wish that lego could make something about animation materials but i just KNOW that they won't. and we all know that. but lego will keep making the things that kids like. some of their sets are rubbish if i do say so myself but if they make money and kids are happy, their businuss will keep going on and on for years to come! That's my say.

i absolutly agree. but the thing is, the lego company are probably thinking, "HOW MANY MORE STUPID BUCKETS CAN WE POSSIBLY MAKE? THEY ARE ARE STUPID BRICK BUCKETS!" BUT WE NEED THE SIMPLE ONES! not the stupid 1x1 complete set! wow! no. we need 2x4 sets and simple sets. but lego haven't caught on yet! God!!!
