From what I remember reading about these at other places like Eurobricks, etc. :
the ostrich has a flat spot between the wings where there is a 2*2 grid of studs, and
both the ostrich and camel are temporary models produced by a rapid prototyping machine. Thus they are not final versions, nor are they cast from the same materials the final versions will be made from. This is why they look different (you can see the same effect on some of the PoP helmets and the like if you look carefully).
One of these days I will (hopefully) figure out why the online LEGO community has a vocal contingent that feels the need to automatically leap on any possible negative aspect of upcoming releases with pants-on-head fervor despite a lack of solid corroborating evidence. Until then I'll just sit in the back shaking my head in dismay and imagining all the cool things that can be done (not to mention the immense humble pie retractions to be made) when the "real deal" hits the streets.
I want zurg and the soldiers, and maybe buzz for old times sake, but i don't really like them.
