Topic: Camera Quality Test

I think I might just have to adjust the lighting, and it will look really good.

Re: Camera Quality Test

There's still some grain and the colours are a bit dark. I suggest you should bring up the contrast a bit so you get nicer colours. It is good already, but those points are the only thing I can whine about. mini/tongue You're getting there, I can see that you're improving

Nice! Though I don't think it's HD.

Damn, that was not neccesary. Tom is a nice guy. And a Dutchman. There can't be anything wrong with that.

He was just being a teensy bit rude when I made Don't Touch My Epidermis. He was getting ticked off that I kept making 9 second films.

Re: Camera Quality Test

If you had a bit more light when you are animating the pictures would be awesome! mini/wink

Ps (Witch camera do you use?)

Re: Camera Quality Test

What camera are you using? I have seen better quality, but maybe this is really good for just your camera.

Re: Camera Quality Test

Haha, posted at the same time.

Yes, I've seen better quality from the 9k.  Try different lighting setups, and changing the settings more.  Tweaking is fun.

Re: Camera Quality Test

My dad was telling me some ways people in photography studios light their "sets" this morning. He said that their usually in the front instead of the back. (My dad does photography for a hobby.) I think I've gotten a good settings, I just got to put the lamps in a good position.

Re: Camera Quality Test

Well, yes, your primary lighting fixture should be shining directly on the set, with a secondary light source on the left or right of the primary, and a backlight if you want to go that far. I use two lights, one level with the set, and one directly above.

Re: Camera Quality Test

its a bit too red for me. you need to color correct or white balance! get a good proc-amp and run it!

a bit more light as other suggest would do you good to. your compression looks good though.

I would disagree with LegoShark though, I see he has decent lighting, but a good deal of the lighting looks to be ambient light (natural light from like a ceiling light for the room). I've done lighting for commercial shoots (I worked with a company shooting commercials for NASCAR) your subject should feel like its in the center of the sun... not really.:P but I will say that two lights as mentioned will cast a shadow. a primary top and a dedicated side will cast a shadow depending on the angle of the side. I have had great results in the use of 3 to 5 point lighting.

for a 3 point I recommend top and both sides.

for 5 point I recommend top both sides front and back.

the other thing to take into consideration is, what sort of lights are you using? I've recently switched from the incandescent light bulb to Halogens. (they were on sale) but I've moved from the 100w soft blue bulb to the 20watt halogen. the halogens are much brighter, use less power, and are smaller with a larger shine radius. but I had to readjust my proc-amp to correct colour based on 3500K instead of 2750K on the kelvin lighting scale. (basically having the computer rewrite the footage to make my 3500K look like 7,000-8,500K which is natural daylight)

never thought that film making could be a big math problem hehe.

animation look good too, but, build your camera a new stand...;)

Re: Camera Quality Test

It was OK. Not the best, but compared to your other stuff, an improvement.
