Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

so can or can we not release a trailer
if we can can may we post it on youtube

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I recommend holding off on posting a trailer until the STAR Trailer challenge, a small competition that will take place shortly before STAR itself.  If you release a trailer now, it won't be eligible for the challenge.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Smeagol what is the best way to credit the audio content?  Is it ok to just send you the details or do they have to be added to credit titles?
Could I simply have credits for everyone in the trailer? The reason I ask was that I was not planning to not have end credits with the entry, is that ok?

If the sounds you're using are allowed to not be credited within the work then yes, that's OK, my guess though is that this would be unusual if there are stipulations for credits on the sounds.  If the creator of the sounds doesn't require credit to be given, neither do I, however music must be credited, and it should be credited in the film if the artist requires this.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Much of the sound I have used is ok I think.

Soungle: All of our sound effects and samples are royalty free

PacDV: You may use the sound effects on this web site free of charge in your video, film, audio and multimedia productions but DO NOT re-sell them, post on a web site for download, or link directly to individual sound files

FreeSound.Org: A bit trickier, they have a common use license
You are free: To sample, mash-up, or otherwise creatively transform this work for commercial or noncommercial purposes.
To perform, display, and distribute copies of this whole work for noncommercial purposes (e.g., file-sharing or noncommercial webcasting).
Under the following conditions:
You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author
All of the sounds I used have no manner specified by the author, so that's fine right?

As for music, I have a friend that made me some wicked tunes.

hi its me again. just wondered do the credits and other things like titles count as the 2 - 3 mins or is it just the animation parts of the film

Then use the delete button. mini/wink

I assume that the credits do count, as long as they're not extensively long.

You have to pay to get the license for FreePlayMusic. I know because I tried.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Credits may be counted, but yeah, don't use them to rack up your running time, because nobody wants to watch a minute of credits after a minute of animation.

Gospelnut, after looking at the terms of use on that site it looks like it wouldn't be okay.  Unless of course you purchase a license to use the music, in which case there are probably sites better suited to this kind of use anyway.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Mixcraft is allowed, cause you're making the music yourself (I'm using it myself too)

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Right.  It does come with some loops, which are all royalty free from my understanding, but you might want to check the various source websites in case.

Even worse when it's opening credits (crawling into the distance as a parody) because it's almost impossible to jump to the start of the show. At least with closing credits you can just stop viewing altogether.
