Topic: Cover That Song Contest
This is a reboot of an old contest from brickfilms.com, in which a judge posts a well known song and entrants attempt to "cover", or make their own version of that song.
Ground rules:
1. The song chosen by the judge must be well known, and must be flexible enough to give entrants room for artistic license. Examples of past songs include "The Ants Go Marching", and "Carol of the Bells".
2. Songs may be created in any way possible, including but not limited to humming, singing, MIDI composition, or instrument playing.
3. Songs entered must be composed of entirely original material. No portion of the song may have been created by anyone other than the author.
4. Group entries are allowed, so if, say you know someone else on the site who plays an instrument and you sing, (or vice versa, any combination of talents is allowed- providing it follows rule 5), feel free to ask them if they want to collaborate.
5. Although you may collaborate with people who are not members of the site, it is necessary for at least one member to do significant work on the song (significant work defined as audible participation in the final product; the member should do more than mix the audio. Not that that isn't an important task, I just don't want to see people entering a friend's song into the contest).
6. The winner of the last contest is the judge of the next.
7. Entrants have one month to complete their song. (May be subject to change).
Discussion of the rules is encouraged, especially if you have a question or grievance which you feel constitutes a rule change.
I will be judging. The song to be covered is the children's classic "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Deadline July 23.]
