So, the problem is that Disney are joining Youtube, and they are re-organising the front page?

It goes like this; YouTube manipulating the number of views on certain videos to create "Super Channels" such as Fred, throwing the aforementioned videos on the Rising Videos and Promoted pages, Disney using YouTube to make more money (as if the millions reaped from their movies, network channels and theme parks wasn't enough), and preparing to push all of YouTube at present into a corner (the proposed "Videos" tab) while they make room for Movies, TV shows and Music videos. That and the already present censorship and hypocrisy.

I blame that particular channel on that person's poor choice of color design, and not on the new layout.

Gee, thanks.

Re: YouTube

I wish there was a non-corrupt website where we could get the publicity we need.

Re: YouTube

We owe YouTube nothing.  It's not like we're paying a subscription fee for them to host our videos.

This is just like people complaining about Facebook changing it's layout.

These websites are businesses.  They are in it for the money.  They were always in it for the money.  Get used to it.

Re: YouTube

The thing that annoys me about these things is they switch the site to how they like it, but practically every member registered won't like it.  It was the same with brickfilms.com this time last year.

Re: YouTube

Many are may complain (again, just like Facebook) but I very much doubt many, if any, are going to actually "OMG TOTALLY LEAVE YOUTUBE FOREVVERRR"

I was going to post a link to Vimeo - but you have to pay to get Vimeo+, and your options are limited untill you cough up.

Revver actually pays you, but the amount varies on how many veiws you get.

I was also tempted to post the petition video against the Youtube re-design, but then the Video began to blackmail me. I signed their petition, and made the video featured on my channel (not that thats going to make much difference) but I dont like being foced into doing these things.

How did it manage to do that?

Re: YouTube

That new layout is...unfortunate.  I've mostly liked all the changes to Facebook, as they streamlined it and increased functionality...this, on the other hand, decreases the amount of info displayable and looks ideal for vloggers (who make videos you'd only watch once anyway) but not most users.  I like having larger thumbnails of a few videos on my channel that I want to highlight as it is now.

Re: YouTube

Unfortunately (and fortunately) it's Thursday, I don't see a change.

Re: YouTube

As part of the Viacom lawsuit, didn't they do some research that showed that most youtube users visit the site to watch the uploaded tv shows and music videos? So, as much as it might pain us as creators of low budget bedroom productions, they're just catering to their audience.

Always fun to see the conspiracy theorists wheel out the tinfoil beanies though, so thanks for the links.

Re: YouTube

I tried making that new layout look good. I just can't, I can't do it. mini/sad

The Facebook design change before the current one was nice, but I feel the current design actually eliminated a lot of functionality or made things harder to work with.

On the subject of the Youtube change: I don't find the new channel layout that bad.

People won't be people when they hear this sound.

Re: YouTube

I just messed up my channel.

EDIT: I changed it back, but if you want to see it (I'm using a PC right now)

Re: YouTube

The channel layout isn't SO bad. It's just different. I still prefer the old one though.

Re: YouTube

I took screenshots of all my channel settings, so that when the changeover comes for everyone, I can make it look somewhat like it does now.

Re: YouTube

I think the new channel design is fine.

Though, it does confuse some editing options, but I should get used to that.

Re: YouTube

It's Friday and it hasn't changed.  I'm happy, although they might change it in the next few days.
