Blunty counters. I don't think he's getting the big picture here.

Re: YouTube

What I don't think Blunty is seeing is that although TV shows and the like might be needed to keep Youtube alive, they're essentially pushing the creators of original content into a small corner. It's not really about "You" anymore, it's about "them." Original content isn't going to be the main focus anymore, and that's what I think Blunty is missing.

From my understanding, anyway. I've only seen a few videos about it.

And kind of off-topic, but is Blunty that mean in real life? I know he's pretty arrogant already, but he comes across as a very unlikeable person in his videos.

Re: YouTube

I can summarize Blunty's video in ten words:

"GUIZ STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT CHANGE ITS GOOD GRR LEFT TESTICLES"

Re: YouTube

Save for the last three words I have to say I kind of agree with Blunty.

I never thought I'd say that before.

Re: YouTube

I agree with him a lot. He may curse sometimes and go a little overboard with his rants, but he's got some good points. You don't have to treat him like he's evil. Remember how much he's done for the brickfilming community.

Seriously, people need to stop complaining every time they change the layout and just deal with it. I doubt YouTube is going to change it just because a few people are complaining about it. Maybe if a noticeable majority of the site suggests a change in a halfway mature manner. And besides, just because the visual look is different doesn't mean the way you post and share videos is different, it's still the same core system.

You're missing the point too. They're not just changing the layout. They're adding movies, TV and music videos and smushing YouTube as it is today into a corner as an afterthought.

Re: YouTube

Ahh, in a perfect world, we could put whatever we want on youtube, make it look exactly how we want it to.  This same world has no work ot be, a limitless supply of Legos, and Ice cold Dr. Peppers appear at your wish.

I, for one, welcome the addition of TV shows and movies.

But what about US!?

Re: YouTube

OMG, Jackie Chan Adventures.  I haven't been able to find any decent episodes online until now.

I echo Nathan's welcome.

I, for one, would too. IF ANY OF THEM WORKED IN THE UK.

Stupid licensing deals.

Re: YouTube

From reading the YouTube Blog post, it seems you can see the new YouTube in the US but can't in other countries.  I changed my location to United States to see if it would work but it didn't, so I changed it back to Ireland a few hours later.

It'll probably be in the other countries in a few days.

1. A link to the video's channel is provided when THERE'S ALREADY ONE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN.
2. It shows a "Season/Episode" header, which I can only assume show the video number in the playlist this video's in. Again, ALREADY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN.
3. "Turn out the lights". Utterly useless because whenever you scroll down the page IT TURNS OFF. Or on. However you look at it.
4. "Change the player size". Useless because WE CAN ALREADY SET THE VIDEO TO HD.
5. No Channel image. Eh.
6. No Date Added. And the video's title is repeated EVEN THOUGH IT'S ALREADY ON TOP OF THE PLAYER.
7. The URL and Embed text boxes are hidden inside the video's description. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but POPTUB has this tendency to put a ridiculously large video description on every single one of their videos with links to each video they feature EVEN THOUGH YOU COULD PUT LINKS VIA ANNOTATIONS IN-VIDEO.
8. Unrated? IT'S BEEN RATED 2,140 TIMES.
9.001 x 10^3. Their taste in videos KINDA SUCK.

The even sadder thing is, they've changed everything else, BUT THEIR CHANNEL STILL LOOKS THE SAME.
