Topic: lego facial animation.

Good morning! I'm trying to get started in facial animation. Do you know of any good tutorials, what's the best program to use, etc? Interested in any help I can get!

Thanks!

After Effects is really good to use for something like this here's a tutorial: http://youtu.be/XER5jtg0o2A

If you don't have AE then here's a tutorial with just free programs in windows:http://youtu.be/0f848GaFNTc

Re: lego facial animation.

Try  Glue Face. It's free, featured on some German brickfilm site I can't remember(!). Very simple to use.

glue face doesn't run on my PC - it renders everything in blue.  mini/sad  Makes me sad.  mini/sad

Looks cool, but I have a MAC and I can't afford AE right now.

I tried glue face, but I have a MAC and it doesn't seem to work. I don't know how to make my videos .avi files. Anybody know how to do that?

I really need to get my butt into gear and pump out those tutorials on my to-do list.

After Effects will enable some of the best results to aim for. The "CC Cylinder" effect is key.

Over the coming months I hope to have some pretty comprehensive tutorials online.

If I did something like that, I'd just use the good ol' Corel PhotoPaint 7 or any, much more recent photo editors.

Re: lego facial animation.

Worst case scenario - Use G.I.M.P. (or Photoshop) and edit each frame individually. It'll take a while, but that's the price of using a free program... However, each frame is then easily controllable, and thus, may make your film look better in the end. - It's all personal preference, but, It's what I intend to use, and, has worked out well in tests I've gone. (On both PC and MAC.)

Re: lego facial animation.

I'm starting to explore gimp cylinders,  papagayo, and aquamorphs libry of mouth sets.  He also has full facial expressions but one step at a time.

Has anyone tried to use a custom mouth with a gimp cylinder before?  Do-able on paper but keen to know if anyone has tried this before.

I'm an animator, check out these 12 Free & paid 2D animation programs:

If you're a beginner, I'd recommend OpenToonz . If you're advanced, Toon Boom Harmony or adobe Animate cc will work great for you.
