TO the other fathers: Happy Fathers' Day!
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! I had a great day.
I must say, looking at your avatar, you seemed to have aged quite a bit recently.
Of course, it's a nice, distinguished look, but still. It's probably unhealthy.
You may want to watch that.
Bah, who needs health when you can look stylish?

I just got back from traveling through the Southwest. I'll try to post some pictures within the next couple of days. Anyway, it's good to be back!
Awesome. I went on a trip out to South Dakota a couple of weeks ago.
Today I returned from a family road trip over to Utah and back. Now to focus on S&S....
I found this Rosie the Riveter parody on Pinterest. I thought you'd also enjoy it.

Canada needs Pokemon Go
At the park last night I lost count at 40 something people playing Pokemon go. It's like a zombie disease. One guy almost crashed into my brother because he was staring at his screen and not looking where he was going.
You're right! We should keep the zombie video gamers inside, in dark basements with no windows, AWAY from public view. I mean, kids roaming around a public park taking advantage of their taxpayer dollars? Unheard of! Parks should be empty! Kids should be not seen nor heard! Zombies should be outlawed!!!!!
That's not what I meant. We literally saw a guy who's phone shut down in the middle of playing and he said "Great. Now I'm outdoors for nothing."
And they weren't enjoying the band that was playing or anything. And also 90% of the people playing were 20 to 40 years old, so, not exactly kids.

You kids these days are lucky to even have smartphones. Back in my day I had to make do with a Windows 95...

On a weird note to what Mr. Vertigo said, but that made me think about how, honestly, my life changed overnight when I got a smartphone.
I'm a friggin weirdo cause, until last December, I still had a crappy old "dumbphone". Like it had a touch screen, but all it could do was sorta receive and send texts and sorta take calls. It was such a burden to use, it barely worked and it had a huge black spot in the middle of the screen FROM when my brother dropped it one time, but I kept it cause I didn't want to spend the money on a more expensive plan or phone.
Finally coughed up the cost of both and, like, holy crap, I gotta say I feel a lot more connected to everything. It was such a hassle to use my old phone, with it freezing up when I typed every other word, that sometimes I'd just try and keep texting sesh's as short has possible cause it was so annoying. Now, it's so easy I actually keep it going cause, hey, I'm a free wheeler now.
Gotta say, tech sometimes brings people apart, but sometimes it ain't to bad at bringing people together.
Though if I didn't have Pokemon GO in my life right now, I might actually spend my break at work relaxing instead of trying to find THAT FRIGGIN PSYDUCK NEAR THE LAKE THAT JUST WON'T SHOW UP

I know what you mean about the dumbphone/smartphone upgrade. Just upgraded from a flip phone recently, and boy does it make everything better! And the data connection is proving really helpful as well.
I have remained aloof from Pokemon Go; not really having the time to get addicted. Kids will amuse themselves somehow, and at least it gets them outside. But my brother has literally gone on a date with his girl in which their main activity was driving all around town collecting the things. So...yeah. I am however looking forward to all the hilarious stories of odd situations people will get themselves into with it.
I had one of the teens in the youth group brag about the number of Pokemon he has caught. His words were: "Yeah, I've have (however many) Pokemon already." My reply: "I have a life."
He didn't speak for the next minute or two. It was great. Just saying. ![]()
I find using cell phones annoying in the first place. so I choose not to own one. Disconnected after just a few months.
Pokemon go looks really cool. But I do not posses a device capable of playing that or any Pokemon game. And I also don't like going outside, especially in Summer.
Right now I'm just trying to wait it out and get through this season.
I'll never understand the appeal of Pokemon. It seems so outdated in my opinion.
Nostalgia.
