Actually, Nathan Wells's whole Bricks in Motion series was very helpful for me when I first started out animating. He's got some great tips on not only animation and walk cycles, but also set building, and aesthetics!
The walk cycle he demonstrates in that video is pretty much the standard for brickfilmers animating at 15 fps. Here's another good tutorial on walk cycles, going a bit more in depth on how to edit them for slower or faster walking:

Similarly, Doug Vandegrift's equally short Brickfilm School series has some great little tips as well. I'd recommend checking out both.
