That's quite an impressive minifigure collection. On the top, I see something. Is that a cat? mini/tongue

Re: Café Corner

I've noticed that.

Also why do quite a few people have Bible verses in their signature? Is there a new fad or are there are lot more religious brickfilmers these days?

Probably the latter. mini/tongue

Re: Café Corner

They have had Bible quotes for a while now.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Café Corner

To be honest, I'm not really sure I understand why people put Bible verses and suchlike in their sigs.  The way I see it, we're here to talk about Brickfilming, not religion and faith.  There's no real reason to bring up personal religious beliefs because it's irrelevant to 99% of the conversations we have on this site (I don't even remember the last time there was a conversation related to religion... which is probably a good thing, given the way internet discussions on this topic seem to run).  I have no problem with people who do it--it's certainly fine, indeed admirable, to show your support for something you believe in--but there's no real point to it.  If we were to discuss a Brickfilm, or a live-action film that had religious themes it would make sense to quote Bible verses, but as is I don't see a compelling reason to put them in a signature.

That said, it's interesting to note that while there are many Bible quotes in member's sigs, I've never seen anyone with a quote from, say, Buddha, Confucius, the Qur'an, or even any atheist quote, in their sig.  Granted, I don't think we even have any Buddhist, Muslim, etc. Brickfilmers amongst us to begin with, and atheism is more akin to a non-movement than movement (given it is defined by a lack of faith) but it's interesting nonetheless.

Re: Café Corner

Your signature is just a way of adding a little bit of identity to your profile. It doesn't necessarily mean they want to talk about religion, it just means they like to share what means something to them. Good on them.

Re: Café Corner

What do you guys think of serious brickfilms?

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Café Corner

In addition to what Brickyman and others said:
I have a Bible verse in my signature, not because I want to constantly change the subject to Christianity or anything like that. Rather, it is a way to let people know that I am a Christian so that they can ask me about it if they feel inclined. For example, I was once asked for input on someone else's idea for a brickfilm because they assumed I was a Christian simply because of my signature.
Sorry if that was confusing at all...

Tims, you ninjad me. Yes, I do like serious brickfilms. In fact, my (probably) next brickfilm is going to be a serious one.

Love em. I wish there were plenty more good ones out there. I think comedy is an easy target genre for brickfilms, and I think it's wasted much of the time.

I love them, I think you can tell some amazing stories with Brickfilms. I think it's sad that the ForrestFire101 approach of ridiculous, pop culture comedy is the predominant form of Brickfilm. Don't get me wrong, they're entertaining, but I'd like a little more depth.

I'd say the amount of religious brickfilmers is about the same as the past few years, you just might be noticing more of them.

Someone's sig and profile picture are one of the first things that forms your opinion of someone on this site. If someone wants to be known as religious, a quote in their sig is an easy way to do that. As for the personal religious beliefs thing, considering that there are a number of brickfilms that touch on religion or are religious in some way means that while religion isn't discussed much on this forum (and I agree with you that should stay that way), religion has certainly impacted brickfilming, and thus is somewhat relevant to discussions of them.

If they're well done, they can be really good, but sometimes I feel a serious brickfilm has to try to be better than a comedic film. Lego seems to lend itself well to comedic films, while serious films need to have a bit more work to them to stand out.

I got it from IKEA. Which is a chain of furniture stores based in Sweden I believe. They're very common here in the UK.

There's actually a few IKEAs in the US, but they're not nearly as common here as they are in Europe.
