Re: Café Corner
I feel like the majority of brickfilms are comedies and most of them aren't that funny. I think it's just as hard to pull off a good comedy brickfilm as it is to pull off a good dramatic brickfilm.

Something to get you all in the mood for Septemberfest. It may be referencing something only tangentially related to the glorious masterpiece of Brickfilming that is TCOTY, ten years after its release, and it may not be red, dead, or even in a dustbin, but I feel it's topical enough to merit a mention.
I think the same way. Sometimes an idea can go either way, so I have to pick comedy or serious, though. However, I don't always make it a "whichever the story fits" situation, sometimes I like to make a comedy for the sake of making a comedy. For example, I have been working on my D&L entry for a while (it's serious), but for BRAWL, I really wanted to make something goofy, so I made a Captain D. Rom film. Thus, it wasn't a "come up with a story, then see how it fits" deal, it was a "make a Captain D. Rom comedy based on the BRAWL theme" idea.
To be fair, for BRAWL, there were actually several things that influenced me to make Retribution. I'd wanted to make a Brickfilming with a female protagonist and a Noir-type detective film for some time now. There were also several other things, like lighting and cinematography, and brick-built blood effects, that I'd been meaning to experiment with for quite some time, and this was a great opportunity for me to try them out. (I've admittedly also have always wanted to make a "kill montage" and use "Sinnerman" in one of my Brickfilms...). Obviously I knew from the start that this wasn't going to be comedic, but I never set out with the explicit intention of making a serious Brickfilm.

Yeah, I see a lot of Brickfilms built around one single joke or that just act goofy in an attempt to be funny. I can't say I've actually laughed out loud at many Brickfilms, although sometimes one will surprise me. I'd like to see some people who are interested in comedy attempt to actually learn comedic theory and have more than just one punchline in a film.
Dish Network is advertising "Lego Bricumentary" or something with a similar title. It's not the BIM documentary, is it? If not, anyone else have leads on it? THANKS!
No, it's a completely different documentary. I believe there's some talk about brickfilming, but it's not the focus of the doc.

Nope, not the BiM Doc. It's an official LEGO Documentary. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3214286/ You can see it in select theatres and buy it on Amazon and iTunes.

I think that a good example for a brickfilm that IS funny, is Rioforce's Brawl enrty. He's a real genius!

We're getting a movie on this.
And this.
Why?
Because this
did so well.
Doesn't mean these other projects will be the same quality, but that doesn't stop people from trying to cash in on a trend.
This
Isn't even this
If you know what I mean...
Hello all. I'm trying to collect all the Brickfilms.com sound effects. Unfortunately, it appears as though they are not available for download any more. If anyone has the full sound effects library, I would be grateful.
