Re: Vega Zyro - A short Sci-Fi Film - Production Topic

@ Prichard Studios Yeah, your probably right. I already shot the scene and dissasembled the set though, so it will have to do. I did put together all the clips I've shot so far in Movie Studio, and I think it looks fine.

@Mosh5256 Well, I must admit, I'm not necessarily making it easy for myself! mini/tongue However, all the frames posted here are of scenes I have already shot. Also, as I mentioned in the post, the last frame is from a still shot. I wouldn't have dared build such a narrow set if I had to actually animate on it. mini/wink

How about using the shot posted in the critique thread and just tilting it a little.(but you will have to zoom in a bit and it may have a bad quality)

Wow, everything you have posted here looks amazing, the lighting, the motion blur, the Dutch angle... This film is going to be really good. Have fun and stay productive!

UPDATE!

I've been busy with different things lately, and just recently got back from a vacation, so it's been a while since I got anywhere with this film. Nevertheless, this project is by no means dead (and nor am I! mini/wink  ) After a rather long break, I'm back to animating. So far, it's just some test animations I've done to try out a camera panning rig I just built for use in an upcoming scene. Still, at least it's something. Fell free to give me your input on it!

I think those all look pretty good, especially that roll call one!

This frame would make an awesome desktop wallpaper... I'm taking it. mini/tongue

Re: Vega Zyro - A short Sci-Fi Film - Production Topic

Awesome camera moves.  If you don't mind me asking could you post some pictures of the rig you used to pull them off.  I'd love to see it

My profile picture is deep fried lol

That's awesome.

I really liked the skeleton in the fast pan.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.

@Brick Block Animations Here are some pictures. Sorry for taking so long to upload them. It's a rather simple setup, utilizing technic gear racks. If you don't have any, I recommend you pick some up next time you get the chance. They're great for building mechanisms like this one.

Re: Vega Zyro - A short Sci-Fi Film - Production Topic

Hey, Brickcrazy,

First off, these scenes look absolutely epic. Science-fiction is my favorite of everything, and I really love your style here, the characters, sets, colors, and lighting.

I just posted a topic in the Equipment and Software forum, and I was wondering if you could take a look at question number two and see if you have anything to say on the subject, because the frames I see here are mainly the ones I had in mind when making that post.

UPDATES!

I've been making some progress with animation as of late. First off, a shot of another set I just built:

That's not all, however. I just recently uploaded a short, partially finished preview clip to my youtube channel. Please note that I have yet to add sound effects, as well as do color correction. Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! You can view the clip at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dFg0TQop8w

Awesome, Brickcrazy! That elevator shaft looks great, can't wait to see it in action. The animation clip you posted is also wonderful, I really like the spooky feel, and the voices are perfect. mini/bigsmile

That camera rig is excellent. My only concern is that the rotating piece would be too loose, and cause problems if you were to bump it..?

Since I didn't need to rotate the camera in any of the shots, I actually used some sticky tack to secure the camera to the rig and keep it from rotating. The little 2x2 turntable is there to help attach the brick-built camera mount to the rig and ensure that the camera is nice and level, but the tack is really doing all the work. Without the tack, just the weight of the camera's cord alone would likely cause problems. mini/wink

Minor update

Still making progress. I finally decided to take a break from animating on the cramped indoor sets and have been filming some (hopefully) dramatic outdoor ones. Here's a frame!

So, what's going on here? Who knows, at least it looks cool! mini/sunnies

That does look cool! Your film is getting better looking every time you post a frame. I can't wait! mini/bigsmile

Re: Vega Zyro - A short Sci-Fi Film - Production Topic

These look fantastic! I'm quite curious how are you lighting your sets? You do such a good job keeping the darks dark and only showing such little lights, but just enough.

Looks great!!! Can't wait for it! The lighting in these production shots looks fantastic! mini/bigsmile
