Topic: New Tests (Sword swing, walking, running, opening chest)

Minifig walking with armor, shield and weapon.
Minifig striking with weapon.
Minifig running.
Minifig fighting another minifig.
Minifig opening chest. (My favorite one).

Any feedback is much appreciated, much of what you guys say I actually implement. With my last test it was said to add both legs together when the minifig is walking this is done in this test.

Re: New Tests (Sword swing, walking, running, opening chest)

The sword fighting wasn't bad, but there were areas of improvement. The swing's of the swords and axes could have been sped up with less frames. A pause when the weapons collide is a good idea. Also, the movements themselves could have been emphasised. Having a large swing looks more realistic than slight sword movements. This is due to the sword having much weight, making the smaller swings a difficult task to perform, especially in combat when the fighter wants to have the most impact possible.

As for the walking, the walk cycle was good. I think you should try just focus on removing the jitters the character had. I noticed they would jitter side to side every few frames.

I hope I was able to help.

Yeah I noticed in a few vids, that they actually put up less frames for this. I'll deffs be sure to try that out in the future.

Thanks, I'm glad you thought it was good, what do you mean by jitter movements? Do you mean the character moves to the side while he moves?

You were very helpful thanks bud!

Re: New Tests (Sword swing, walking, running, opening chest)

what do you mean by jitter movements?

I mean that there should, on most occasions, be a smooth walk cycle, with each movement flowing to the next. This is mimicking real life, where your arms swing forwards and backwards as you walk. In your animation, certain frames had a jitter. For example,  the minifigure would be walking forwards. If he sways to one side, it would be distracting to see the minifigure, mid-sway, jolt or jitter in the opposite direction just for one frame, and then continue with his sway. This is usually created by a small bump when animating.

Ohh okay I get what your saying now, thank you for getting back to me on that, I am working on improving my movement for my minifig even more than it is. So I do appreciate the keen eye to notice it so thanks for that!

Divine.
