Re: Middle Earth BBQ

Middle Earth BBQ is just what we need in preparation for summer!

Overall, this is a creative take on the Lord of the Rings universe. The comedic voices of the orcs and Gollum work well and really bring the short to life. Sure, it's a bit random, but that does not take away from enjoying this fun, little animation.

The use of actual dirt as the surface of the ground really adds a realistic element to the plastic world of LEGO. Also, I really like the chef hats that Gollum and the orcs are wearing. Very lovely!

There are some technical aspects of the film that could use some improvement, however. The chromakeyed effects are quite visible. In the future, you might want to more evenly light your green screen and place your subject as far away from it as possible to avoid color spill come compositing time. CorridorDigital has an excellent tutorial on the subject of chromakeying as seen here. Your animation shows good potential and effort, however, it is quite choppy at some points. In order to create more fluid, life-like movements, you might want to practice easing in and easing out. Forum member Fancypants explains everything you need to know about easing in and easing out in this video.

Keep up the good work, Isenbold!
