Topic: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

This is a clip I'm working on for the 11 Second Club this month. At the rate it's going, I'm not sure if I'm going to finish it by the end of the month, but I'll probably still finish it regardless. Anyway, here is the progress I've made on it so far.

Most of the clip is still in the blocking stages, so only about the first second of the clip is "animated," but even that I'm still working on. Facial animation to come!

Video needs permission

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

Oh, it's only blocked so far. I was really confused for a minute. mini/tongue Anyway, it looks like it should be cool, can't wait to see it finished. mini/smile

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

Woo, update! See it here. I converted it to spline (where the computer figures out all the middle stuff) just to see how things were moving, but it'll look like stop-motion when it's done.

jahnocli, I'm not sure why you're having problems with permission. Everyone else seems to be able to see it just fine.

Just me being an idiot! I can see it fine now.

Wow, that was fantastically bouncy and full of character! Nice work.

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

Hey look, I'm still working on this! Linké here. This whole thing was completely redone over the last week or so due to some upgrades I made on the rig, and I was still fighting with the rig this time around. Besides all that I think I spent a good few hours on this.

I'm holding out for a proper render until I get facial animation done.

The 11 second club.  I haven't heard that name in a long time.   Long time.

There is some horrible animation on that site.  There is also some beautiful, spectacular animation on that site.  "Jilting Me" came to mind in the beautiful category.  Also, the one where the man holds the Earth at the end was fantastic!  I have a preference for the hand-drawn animation.  Little Brick, good luck on the challenge, and keep us updated on the developments!

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

I really liked it.
The gestures, the cartoony eagerness of the blue spaceman character.
I could see this being an animation style.

Can't wait to see more. mini/smile

The challenge was back in September. I submitted an entry, but it wasn't anywhere near this done and didn't do so well.

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

So, instead of creating a new topic, I thought I'd just rename this one. Anyway, I've been studying The LEGO Movie as a way to get myself back into animating regularly, and here's the first result:

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

Nice work. I've been studying TLM lately too and it's given me a lot of ideas for improving my animation - both CGI and stop motion. Watching Benny build his spaceship frame by frame is quite a revelation.

I loved MisterMulluc's character with the wobbly hat in Major Malfunction, so I tried doing it on my own:

I just saw the image above.  I like the high-contrast of it.

It only took seven months, but I finally "finished" this, and by "finished" I mean I don't think I'll be doing any more work on this particular clip. Image is the link, btw.

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

That is fantastic. There is some grain in the shadows (I have no knowledge of CG or any of that), but that is fantastic.

Love it, the animation looks great. mini/smile

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

Wow, that's wonderful, Littlebrick! All that hard work paid off! I especially like the mouth animation, those were fantastic. The style of the 3D animation was great, I love how everything moves so fluidly.

Re: Littlebrick's CGI endeavors

This is really cool! Most LEGO CGI animations tend to be very slow and have long movements, but your movements in this were quicker and more realistic (and more alike to typical brickfilming movements), which was great.
