Don't you know that THAC/BRAWL theme drops are forbidden?  It certainly is unexpected when you find one hidden somewhere.  But I guess if they're okay or not depends upon one's outlook.

But I really do want to see the grand unveiling of your film, Isaac.

I think get what you're saying now. BRAWL 2014 had Development as a theme didn't it! I completely forgot. This scene will take up about five seconds of the film altogether. Don't worry Squid, it will be the grandest unveiling the universe has ever seen.
Very punny you guys mini/eh

@Jampot.
Nice frame, though it would have been nice if I could see more of the surrounding area in the shot. and I'm intrigued what the funny white pointy thingymabob is at the top of the frame also..

Thanks, I'll try and get a picture of the whole set soon. I'm doing a lot of fragmentary shots to try and make the space seem more crowded, even though it's quite a sparse set (for various reasons).

The white blobby thingy is the tip of Scorpia's tail. Originally it was going to be black, but I tried the white and it looked a lot cooler and more distinguished. I'll get a picture of her too.

Hey, Issac, I didn't realize that I posted right after yours without providing time for people to comment.  I thought DewFilms' post was last.  Your picture sure leaves me wondering what is going on.  In addition to it being pleasantly designed, I'm curious to see your film now.

Haha, no worries. I'm hoping for the film to be about 3 - 4 minutes long. It will be called The Long Way Home. Hopefully that's not also been a competition theme for BRAWL or THAC! mini/tongue
I also like your frame. If I was to recommend something, I find the background rather grey. Backgrounds don't necessarily need to be blue, (I've used yellow quite alot in the near past) I just feel the grey background doesn't quite fit with the vibrant levitating alien shooting a raygun.

The gun (3rd photo) and the chainsaw one are great! The background really adds to them both. Also, it's quite rare that you see frames from a brickfilm that are taken from underneath the minifigure.

All of these are way above the usual standard, but this one strikes me especially.  The blurry, unidentifiable stuff in the background really reminds me of lighting in The LEGO movie (which we all should know looks delightful).

I'm also quite fond of the fact that you've included two different light sources with two different hues to them, which really makes the image feel more interesting and detailed. That's something especially I feel like people should do more often, myself included.

But it's really annoying sometimes that I just happen to be making a film in greyscale right now and will still be making this film for most of the year.  So it's going to be a while until I get to do more of that.

Also, make sure you accompany this shot with a really good gun cocking sound.  I made a reasonably good one for Leprechauns in France if you want it.

BTW, is this going to be 3:2?

In that case you're in for a treat--this film is going to have a lot of low-angle shots (although most aren't as extreme as this).  I'm worried I may be going slightly overboard with these...

Believe it or not, but this is the set-up for this shot:

Only build what the camera sees, amirite?

I put one of my desk lamps behind the window, which gives it a sort of brownish light (and causes the unidentifiable stuff in the background).  To add some detail I used a small portable reading light which has an extremely cool, blue tone.  It's probably the most fantastically useful lighting implement that I happened to find lying around in my house and decided on a whim to use, I've used it in several other scenes and one-off shots.  The blue can add a nice contrast to warmer colours, and it creates really sharp shadows as well, which is really useful in some instances (the light from my other lamps is generally too diffuse).

I do need to find a good gun cocking sound yet.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 3:2, though if you mean the aspect ratio it's not finalised (it'll be 16:9).

Beautiful shot! Love the bokeh and the lighting adds so much texture and depth to the shot.

The framing is quite pleasing to the eye. I must admit, the first thing I thought of was this...

Haha wow, the resemblance is uncanny.  The posing is almost identical.  I haven't watched any of the Dalton-era Bond films in years (the last time I saw them was on VHS, believe it or not...)

Mr. Vertigo these look really nice, it reminds me that one thing I need to work on is simple to transitional sets, not everything needs to be big complicated and fancy to look great.

That green and blue is a pretty interesting colour combination.  It's got a nice mysterious looks to it which feels rather unreal.  Which of course is perfect for a fantasy universe about magical cyborgs.

Wow, this is high praise indeed!  I'll try not to disappoint. mini/wink  I feel like the still frames look better than the actual shots since I'm not the best animator.  I'm aiming to have a trailer up in a few days so you'll be able to see for yourself though. [/SelfPromotion]

Sloth, this was essentially a one-off shot lasting about a second, so I just basically whipped it together as fast as I could (though I spent a good amount of time adjusting the camera).  I put a lot of effort into making my more "main" sets fancy--including one which I just animated on, which is problematic as you don't see too much of the detail in the final cut.

That looks fantastic!  I love the green/blue lighting.  Can't wait to see this in action.

And whilst I'm at it I might as well post another frame:
