Re: Café Corner

I've been addicted to Misirlou lately. I need to delve into more of Dale's work. Really fun stuff.

You just reminded me how much I need to see Pulp Fiction again, and then another Tarantino movie cause PF's the only one I've seen and I LOVE it!

Re: Café Corner

I've been listening to this a lot [contains some language, i.e. one bad word in the first line].  It's the most wonderfully depressing song in the history of wonderfully depressing songs.

Also, this.*

...Yeah, I've been listening to a lot of depressing music lately.

On a similar note, I just got Spotify Premium, and one of the first things I did was skip through an entire playlist simply because I can.

Oh wow, this song is amazing.  I can see why you've been listening to it a lot, Walter.

I myself haven't seen any Tarantino films, aside from Inglorious B@$t3rds.  I need to watch more Tarantino films.  Actually, I just need to watch more (good) films generally.

*On a side note, does anyone know whether Sinnerman is copyrighted?  It would fit spectacularly for a brickfilm I have in mind, but it would have to be royalty-free.

But on the bright side, several other shelves are sorted by color so that's pretty dank. On an unrelated note, I'm completely addicted to this song right now. WHAT ARE MUSICS YOU HAVE MUSICED LATELY

I've been hooked on this ultra-catchy piece of 1970s French Pop.  I've taken a break from the 1980s to listen to a sizeable playlist of melodic synthesizer music.  <Warning: Scary album cover... not trying to fearmonger mini/smile  >

I usually listen to it back to back to this late 1970s cover tune.  Here's the music video:

I guess this is the time of year for sorting our Lego colelctions.  I'm another who is trying to get y collection back under control (not that I ever was in control.)

Re: Café Corner

It actually wasn't about the site's reputation at all; the intention was to clarify the staff hierarchy. For a long time we've been fielding a lot of questions from members who were under the impression that anyone with a custom title was a moderator, or who were having trouble differentiating between moderators and administrators because few of the titles were descriptive in a meaningful way.

It's not impossible that as the site evolves we might gain functionality that allows for user titles in conjunction with administration and moderation tags, but for now we've decided that the best course of action is to reset all of the forum titles to their default.

Re: Café Corner

Squash explained it well. I actually want to reinstate custom titles once we have a better system in place for badges on different kinds of users.

The redesign plans are still crawling along, actually. I think once the documentary is close to finished, it'll happen.

Re: Café Corner

'Turnipped Onions' was the best thing about my profile :'(

Re: Café Corner

This "tagging" feature, it must have been before I joined.  When did it phase out, and I'm still not exactly sure what it is.  Is it like a title, a quote, or a space for anything?  Thx.

Not gonna lie, I've been under this impression for the past 5 years. Excluding the obvious of course, such as Sméagol being the admin.

Also get hyped for Café Corner page 600!

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Re: Café Corner

That all makes sense.  I was once mistaken for a mod even after my tag was removed, but I promptly told them I wasn't.

Wow, I really thought that you were a mod, I didn't even know.

Re: Café Corner

To be fair, RP was a decommissioned mod (on his request) and his title was "Turnipped Justice" for his years as a mod.

I hope we eventually bring back custom titles. Mine would be schizophrenic butterfly.

So, headed back to the college this evening after church.
Not super-excited about it, but I'll be around a bunch of great friends everyday, so that's a plus.
And after this semester, I'll be half-way through!

Re: Café Corner

So, about the Golden Globes...

The award for Best Animated Feature was a total letdown. I actually wasn't upset at all that Grand Budapest Hotel and Boyhood won in the two categories for Best Film, even if I haven't even seen either of them. But, Best Animated Feature--oh my gosh. Dreamworks can win anytime; I mean, they're the ones that revolutionized the category all those years ago. But, I would have loved to see either Boxtrolls or The LEGO Movie win. It doesn't seem like these people have a lot of respect for people who sit in a dark room taking thousands of pictures of kiddie toys for a living.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Café Corner

JK Simmons' win was well deserved. Whiplash better be noticed for the oscars!

Re: Café Corner

I haven't seen either of the How to Train Your Dragon films, so I won't say too much, but I've never been impressed by a DreamWorks film; every movie they make seems distinctly average, but I don't know, maybe they finally found something that works. I have trouble believing that a DreamWorks sequel is better than The LEGO Movie, though, which was a beacon of light in the currently dull world of computer animated features.

Re: Café Corner

I have seen both How to Train Your Dragon films, and while I can definitely say they are much better than most of Dreamworks other drivel (perhaps even the best Dreamworks films...), to say that the second one was better than the The LEGO Movie is pure lunacy. Ridiculous.

I'm okay with the winners.
