Re: What was the last movie you watched?
For Christmas, I got the Jurassic Park DVD box set. I had never seen these movies before, and when I watched the trailer for the upcoming Jurassic World, I had wanted to watch them.
Jurassic Park (1993)
And the first one is beautiful. It must have been a lot of fun to have seen this one in cinemas, upon its release, almost 22 years ago. Spielberg's masterful direction, John Williams' classic musical score, and the breathtaking CGI all help bring the dinosaurs to life.
9.8/10
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
No idea why the title is shaped like that. I know that the "sequel novel" is called "The Lost World", but that doesn't explain the backwards title. Anyways, the sequel is good, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original, even if they were able to get the same things that made the original the masterpiece it is.
8/10
Jurassic Park III (2001)
The third installment screams "straight-to-video"; it is an unnecessarily strange and strangely unnecessary entry into the franchise. It has some memorable moments, but this movie was doomed from the moment that the crew kicked Spielberg out of the director's chair.
III/X*
*See what I did there?
