Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

Gotham
Watched the first three episodes now. I'm enjoying this a lot. It's got a brutal edge but is darkly funny, and a brilliant depiction of Gotham city, in terms of characters, set design etc. Penguin and Catwoman are the best characters, though Bullock is growing on me (not that I like him, I mean as a good character). However, I find Barbara annoying.

Agents of SHIELD
The series hasn't really got into its stride yet, and while I'm enjoying it, it feels like it's a completely separate show to last series. Almost all of Fitz's scenes are heartbreaking, and Skye seems to have lost a lot of her personality. Coulson's on top form, and the appearance of Absorbing Man from the start is a wonderful addition.

Agents of SHIELD
Tonight's episode will change some of that. The last episode got me pumped.

Spoiler (click to read)

Fitz may start to realize that simmons isn't really there, and it may break his heart when he finds out what simmons does now.

Gotham
The balloonman was an interesting villain. I am loving the little references to Batman's future,

and what the penguin is trying to do now that he's back in Gotham.

Steven Universe
I like that the show is exploring the other character's back stories and the show's universe itself.

Mod edit: added spoiler tags, for those who haven't seen the episodes yet. Please try to be careful about this mini/smile

Studio C (2012-)
Season 5 Premiere

A hilarious sketch comedy show that you can find on BYUtv (channel 374 for DirectTV) and on Facebook and YouTube. Most shows like this are pretty "meh" to me, and the lack real spirit and wit. But, this show is hilarious, and it's got something the whole family can find humorous and enjoyable. The show just started their fifth season, due to being one of BYUtv's most popular programs. It was hilarious.

Clarence (2014-)
Episode 18: Average Jeff

I already started up a discussion thread for this one, but since it's so far down in the "inactive topics" section, I decided just to let it die and post about it here. Just last summer, the series creator/lead voice actor was fired from Cartoon Network for unruly behaviour towards his fellow co-workers on the show. The post-Season 1 future is unclear to many of the fans, but the first season of the show was probably completed before he was canned. And I liked this episode. I mean, there were better episodes in the past, but this one was still enjoyable.

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

Flash

It wasn't too bad.  However, since Flash is young & just starting out in this series, I thought it would be in the past (like the Goldbergs).  Instead of the best friend saying, "Someone stole my laptop" she would have said, "someone tried to steal my laptop, but it was too heavy for him to make off with it!"

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED

When I was younger, I loved Batman: The Animated Series. I still do. When it came out, the justice league shows never caught on with me because, other than batman and superman, I didn't know many of the characters all that well and/or didn't like them.

Boy was I stupid.

This show rocks! Literally, the theme song is full out rock n, roll (awesome!)

I revisited this show when I heard a lot of reviewers say it was really good. I saw the original justice league show, and it was pretty good, but this is even better! The characters are awesome, the stories are awesome, it's just a great show, and it's better than I originally thought it would be (that being it would just be batman and superman being overshadowed by a bunch of other heroes' story arcs and the two of them just kind of Being there.)

LOST

LOVE that show! Saw the finale a month or so ago, and it was quite fulfilling. While it did have it's down moments, LOST has to be one of my favorite shows of all time. It focuses a lot on character development, giving the audience a good idea of the charters' back stories and motivations. I especially liked Charlie, Claire, Sawyer, Locke, Desmond, Mr. Eko,
and Hurley (Let's face it: everybody loves Hurley). Lapidus was also pretty cool but I wish they had dedicated an episode to his character. The one thing I can honestly say I hated about the show was the beginning of seasons five when

All the passengers except the main characters got killed. Seriously, a huge part of the show was Jacks efforts to get EVERYONE off the island, and they just massacre them all in one episode. I really hated the others after that! mini/madhead

There were also a lot of unanswered questions, but, when I saw the ending of the finale, when

Jack watched the plane fly away as he lie dying in the same bamboo forest he awoke in when they crashed with Vincent next to him, and he closed his eye for one final time, mirroring the show's opening with his eye opening. I cried when I saw that.

I allowed myself to forget those for a while and focus on the beautiful ending scene.

LOST was not perfect, but it was very intriguing, always keeping you guessing until the next episode. I'm really going to miss watching it, I loved it so much, it feels almost a part of me now. mini/sad  (Though in a year or so I'll probably re-watch it when my friends or relatives get into it.)

Cool segment in one of todya's episodes where a teenage guy photoshops himself tiny and doing things like hang-gliding on a paper airplane and stuff.  Pretty cool!

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

Quick-fire round:

Marty
Didn't like it.

The Quatermass Experiment
Lots of potential, but ti couldn't decide what kind of programme it wanted to be. It started off as a sci-fi thriller, then had this bizarre comedy sequence in the middle that derailed it.

The Adventures of Robin Hood
From the 50s. It was a good laugh; didn't take itself seriously at all, and was so much stronger for it. Plus, it had one of the best depictions of Maid Marian onscreen. I still prefer the Jason Connery series, though, m'afraid.

The Lone Ranger
The pilot from 1949. Enjoyable, and pretty good for its time. The approach to Tonto would be considered racist today, but given the era it's depicting I don't care one jot. I really like this version, and will definitely watch some more when I get the chance.

The Flash
Finally! Grant Gustin is fantastic. This is exactly how I imagined the TV show would be, and I'm loving it. Plus all the nerdy references to characters like Grodd, who I hope will show up in the series.

Arrow
I've only watched the first three episodes so far, and it's really engaging.

30 Rock
A lot crazier than I expected, but fun. It's hugely cynical but in a refreshingly light-hearted, uncomplicated way, and the cast is awesome. Adam Baldwin and Tina Fey in particular.

Kamen Rider Decade
Four episodes in, now. The fight scenes are still epic, and I like the alternate universe plotline. It's campy, but most tokusatsu superhero shows are.

Gokaiger
I normally don't watch Super Sentai (even though I'm a big Power Rangers fan) but the concept of the series had me. Basically, this gen of rangers are pirates, who collect power keys that let them use the abilities of previous Sentai. It's even more cartoonish than Power Rangers but the numerous crossovers make it a lot of fun - it's essentially a tribute to all that's come before. It's also much better than its bland, poorly produced American counterpart Power Rangers: Megaforce/Super Megaforce, which has no soul or mythology of its own whatsoever.

Power Rangers: Megaforce/Super Megaforce
It has no soul or mythology of its own whatsoever.

Gogglebox
It feels a little strange to be watching a TV show about people watching TV shows: for those of you who haven't heard of it, Gogglebox literally just sits in peoples' houses as they watch TV. We see their reactions to stuff from 9/11 documentaries to the X Factor, and it's kind of endearing and intriguing.

This is what happens when you take a Film and TV course and have a ton of shows you're already watching.

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

The flash is cool.  I don't get the appeal to 30 rock, though.  It's about as unfunny as a show can get (that does explains why critics like it at least).  The last show I watched was Last Man Standing last night.  THat's if you don't count the show that followed it, I think it was called Cristina or something similar.  I don't count it because after 8 or so minutes, my brother took over the TV to watch wrestling.

the episode of Last Man Standing was weird.  It didn't really seem to resolve, and the character Eve pretty much sat on the couch and watched TV the whole episode, rather than be involved in a subplot of some kind.  Still a funny episode; the best moment was when Tim Allen's boss talked about his father sending him outside wrapped in tin foil during a lightning storm, and some discussion on various ways to warm gerbils.

The program you're thinking of might be called Cristela. I've never seen it, but I know that critics don't particularly fancy it, and that it has one of the cardboard Disney Channel moms.

Yep, more Clarence episodes.

Episode 19: Lizard's Day Afternoon

As usual, the episode offers a lot of laughs, as our characters search for opportunities to have fun around town. My family and I really enjoyed this episode.

Episode 20: The Forgotten

When Clarence gets left at school, he and a friend have to find their way home, making trouble along the way. For fans of surreal references to Peanuts, this is the episode for you.

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

30 Rock is one of my favorites. So many great moments.

I've been watching a lot of the new fall shows and I'm really enjoying The Flash and Gracepoint. How to Get Away With Murder is fine, if not a bit soapy. The Legend of Kora and Gravity Falls continue to impress. I delved into the BBC show Utopia recently, and it's amazing and stylish and clever. It's a short run (20 episodes over two seasons) so it is pretty accessible, but be warned there is some very graphic violent unpleasantry and a metric ton of "swear words."

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

The Great British Bake Off
Cooking is a growing hobby, and I've been watching this show for years, so yeah.

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

Yes!  Thx mickey. It is Cristela.  It wasn't so bad the first few minutes of it.  Nothing I'd tune into every week, though.  But since critics don't like it, I should give it another check.

Re: What was the last TV show you watched?

New ep of The Goldbergs.

They really mash the 1980s up into one era.  In this episode alone, the mother dressed like Madonna circa 1984, SOmeone was listening to a Debarge song from 1987, and Straight Up by Paula Abdul (a hit in 1988), and the older brother watched WarGames in the theatre (1983)

My girlfriend was showing me some episodes of Raising Hope that she loved, and one of them involved the entire cast of My Name is Earl... so now we've moved on to that. Good comedy makes me giggle.

The World Wars
Like the way the whole mini-series documentary is set out, explaining little details that slipped my mind from the past, other than that, nothing entirely new. I find the acting in it very impressive, and I recommend it to anyone interested in World War I and World War II
The Passing Bells
Another World War I focused mini-series. Aired last week, and I liked the general concept of it; each episode details that year of the war. The focus on both the British and German soldier really give the characters depth, showing that the Germans had similar backgrounds to the British, which I liked.
The ending of the series was quite, well, sad, but it was expected.
