Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

Thank you to everyone who has backed us so far, I'm impressed and honored by the response from the BiM community!

In order to maximize this campaign, we need to reach beyond the immediate BricksInMotion community. You can help us with this by getting the word out about the project! I've added a couple of links that should help with this to the top post in this thread.

I'd also like to emphasize that any financial contribution is helpful and appreciated, even if you are only able to provide a dollar. I'm not saying this to be diplomatic; the reason it matters a lot is that the number of backers a Kickstarter has behind it, regardless of amount given, is an important part of how Kickstarter decides to highlight campaigns, bringing them more attention. The more backers we have, the more visibility we will have for blogs and the Kickstarter community.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

We've had a fantastic first 24 hours, with just under $3449 (34% funded) raised thanks to 66 backers. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!

Big reminder, Bricks in Motion members who contribute $25 or more to the Kickstarter in the first 48 hours can receive a bonus: a free engraved Bricks in Motion keychain.

The keychain is only available as part of this 48-hour promotional. I repeat, to receive the bonus keychain, you MUST contribute within the first 48 hours.

So far 19 BricksInMotion members have sent an email to [email protected] claiming their keychain. If you have already pledged and haven't sent your email, please do it now! And if you haven't pledged, well, what are you waiting for? As of this writing, you have a little less that 24 hours to pledge and claim your keychain!

If you pledge in the first 48 hours and you would like to claim a free BiM keychain for a pledge of $25 or more, please send an email to [email protected] listing your BricksInMotion username, your Kickstarter name, and your pledge amount as soon as you finalize your pledge so we can verify. We will of course keep all of your information private.

I donated to the $20 reward tier, but can I add another five dollars later today and still receive the keychain?

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

I'm planning on donating later today. This looks really great, I can't wait. mini/bigsmile

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

It's a shame I can't help, but I've been literally penniless for several months.  Although I'm glad funding seems to be going reasonably well as it is.

Best of luck.

Yes, just email us  at [email protected] when you do. The offer's valid until 5 pm GMT tomorrow.

edit: this applies to PushOver. If you live outside the USA, you'll need to add $18 to cover international shipping costs ($5 for the minimum, plus $12 for the shipping)

That may have something to do with the fact that we threatened to spend all the money we raise on candy.

Another question that has come up a few times is what will happen to your money if we don't succeed in raising the goal amount. Kickstarter doesn't withdraw money from your card until the campaign is over, and then only if the campaign has succeeded! So your money is safe.

Well, I think I might be able to afford to contribute a bit.  Just wondering, I was thinking of doing the same as PushOver, and was wondering how would that work.  Do I select the "Animator" tier, and add $5 separately, or can I just put in $25 dollars and select "Animator" as my reward tier?

One thing I forgot to mention in response to Pushover's question was that adding $5 to a $20 amount in order to get the keychain will only work if you live in the United States, due to shipping costs. You'll need to add $18 if you are outside the USA. ($5 for the $25 tier minimum, plus $12 for international shipping). I know it's steep, but unfortunately international shipping is, too mini/blankexpression

Let's hope we can keep this momentum going long enough to greatly surpass the goal of $10,000!

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

I just backed it, the kickstarter looks great!  The backing seems to be doing very well so far, I'll be really pleased to see this meet its goal!

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

I'm pleased with the Kickstarter activity so far! However, it is mostly limited to contributions from BricksInMotion members, which will burn out pretty quickly, so the next step is getting the word out to a larger audience.

Let's hope we can keep this momentum going long enough to greatly surpass the goal of $10,000!

If we are able to exceed the goal, lots of cool things could happen. I'd love to raise the funds to a level where we can interview brickfilmers outside North America.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary Kickstarter is now LIVE!

I know you've probably already planned something for this, but are you trying to get the Kickstarter featured on The Brothers Brick?

Also, is there anything else I (and anyone) can do to spread the news?

We're working on that, yes.

Sharing it on Twitter and Facebook are a good start; if you guys know of any good sites we should contact about it that's helpful as well. The more relevant blogs and such we can find to help get the word out, the better.
