An Adventure Story

YouTube

This is the tale of a heroic explorer who beats all odds and battles evil once and for all!

If you watch this movie closely, you will notice that I used all the key parts of story telling (character development, plot with back-story, climax, and resolution) and displayed them in a humorous way. If you are a fan of the old LEGO Adventurers theme, then you will recognize all of the characters in this film.

Re: An Adventure Story

Okay, all I can say is that this will go into my list of films that I show my family, and reference all day to random people who don't know what I'm talking about. Good job.

The guy who got banned more times than DiCaprio said "f***" in The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Re: An Adventure Story

Interesting.  I don't get all the references (I got the names but) but watching a floating cup and pair of legs was enough for me.  mini/smile

Saw your behind-the-scenes.  With the 'rig' holding up the cup, any reason why you simply didn't have the 'stick' directly below the cup - like, straight up and down?  Was that casting a shadow in the wrong direction?

Re: An Adventure Story

The animation was good (especially the characters assembling), The effects worked well, and the film as a whole was quite fun. The two things that could be improved are the sets and the occasional flicker, but other than that this was a great film.

Re: An Adventure Story

Lol! Nice! Good work on masking the hand on the cup!

Moved an have no room to animate, but I do have a Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/84070766@N07/ My friends and I have been composing a Comic Series: http://cosmosquestcomic.com

Re: An Adventure Story

@brickelodeon I'm glad my film made your llist! mini/smile

@togfox The reason that I didn't put the stick under the mug is because I didn't want the shadow to disappear. Even if the lamp was pointing at an angle, there is still a slight shadow under the mug.

@END films I noticed the light flicker, and I did notice I made set bumps, but I don't really understand what you mean by the sets could use work? Is it because they were really simple? They were kind of intentionally simple. mini/wink

@Kizar I'm glad you liked the masking. It took me forever to mask all of those frames, haha.

They aren't bad, just could be improved mini/smile (like choosing between light trans blue and dark trans blue for the ice on the snow) but the sets didn't take away from the film in any way mini/smile .

Re: An Adventure Story

The technical qualities of this film are all quite nice. I liked the visual effect of the disembodied hand holding the coffee cup, and the animation on the assembly of the characters was very creative.

However, I'm not really sure about the rest of it. Half of the film is buildup and introduction to a group of characters that end up not even factoring into the final story. On top of that, for being an "adventure story," it's fairly simplistic and doesn't have quite the payoff it should have. You have some good ideas here, they just feel a bit undercooked and disparate from each other.

On the other hand, though, I did appreciate the Johnny Thunder character reunion.

Re: An Adventure Story

@ENDFilms: Yea, I really wanted to use more trans bricks on my set, but I have a distinct lack of that color. I have more trans-clear studs and other trans windscreens. Obviously, windscreens don't work on a mountain. mini/tongue

Thanks for the feedback, Mindgame. I'm glad you liked the effects, and the "Johnny Thunder character reunion". mini/wink The film was really mostly a character development film (lol, should have done this for BRAWL). Actually, I made this film using all of the key elements of story telling: Characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution. Obviously, the setting, plot, conflict and resolution was barely anything. I sort of over-used anti-climax in this story, haha. I guess I could have filled it in some more though.
