Topic: Bionic Development (BRAWL 2014 by KB Videos)

Here it is, my first ever BRAWL entry.

Bionic Development

I think I did a good job, and after almost losing an arm and a leg during the week, I don't know how I managed to pull it together so well. Only judging will tell how well I did, but by the looks of it, I'm one of the few who is actually proud of what I made.

The casualties of BRAWL 2014:
A dropped camera.
A dropped main lens.
A dropped computer.

It was worth it.

I like it.

The use of more more unusual terms like "Sire" gives this a nice atmosphere, but sadly the factory and fireplace room sets seem very different, and almost don't feel as if they should be in the same film.

The animation is good, as is the voice acting. The arm shots are unique and new, but just don't look right.
Maybe I'm too used to not seeing something like that, but you did a good job filming them.
The building shots got a tad repetitive, and the fireplace shots too, though they made good "bookends."

And was there an insider BiM joke somewhere? 'Cuz if so, I missed it.

I can't really do much but echo what Pritchard said.

There were some shots where the depth of field felt way too shallow, but besides that everything looked very nice. Good job.

Thanks mini/smile It means a lot to get feedback like that from you.

The arm shots aren't used in Brickfilms, although I have seen similar style shots in cinematic films. I'm trying hard to recreate the cinematic film experience using LEGO. They may seem a little strange because it turns out they are filmed as though the hand is the wrong way around. The arc could be a little smoother too, but for something ambitious like that, I like how it turned out for a first try.

The way that the talking scenes were edited were not very good, at 1:30 you change shots and cross the line, which is pretty confusing visually, most of the cuts durring the talking are also pretty jarring, some of them could have been longer shots, just with focal changes, or even just having more meaningful differences between the different camera angles, try to learn a little about cutting on motion to make the visual flow of the film seem less choppy.

Sorry for sounding a little harsh, but I see that you have the potential to be a lot better, otherwise it was a well animated pretty fun short.

All good advice that I will learn from and develop my potential on mini/smile Thanks.

Nice job, KB. My only gripe is that the music seemed too slow to fit the mood. Maybe, if the tempo were a bit higher, it would better fit what was happening onscreen.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?
