Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Love the colours in that, but it might be to your advantage to post the image at a slightly larger size.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Is judging still taking place today?

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

It is. I'll do that later, I don't have time right now.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

And the winner is…

Willow Tree ! That's a nice photo, I liked the lighting and colors. However, there is a shadow on the background on the right, and we can see the edge of the sheet of paper. Maybe it would be more interesting to have the light come from the left thant from the right, as we would see the face of the character better. (The side of his head is more visible in your photograph but this is not the most interesting thing to show.)

Rockydude411Bricks. Interesting lighting, it creates a nice atmosphere for your scene. However as everything is out of focus it's hard to get the point of the photo.

funmiproductions. Nice framing, but the lighting is too "flat".

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Thank you Aiwha, and congratulations Willow Tree!

No... The subject of the picture is clearly the empty suitcase, not the fisherman. Plus, the silhouette looks awesome.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Thanks, Aiwha! I thought the theme for this past week was great. I'm glad you liked it, Loic! And you're right, the subject is, indeed, the empty suitcase.

Alright, so the theme for this week's challenge is Film Noir. If you're unfamiliar with Film Noir, it's a term used to describe a genre of crime dramas from the mid-1900's. Entries will be judged next Friday, June 20th.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I'll try to enter... That's a stylish and very inspiring theme.

Good luck everybody! mini/wink

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Ok, time slipped away last time. Challenge excepted mini/sunnies

Moved an have no room to animate, but I do have a Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/84070766@N07/ My friends and I have been composing a Comic Series: http://cosmosquestcomic.com

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

This theme sounds brilliant, I'll definitely try enter!

Also, just wondering: Is the theme meant to be based strictly off of Film Noir itself, or is it more a reference to Noir style  (and could it, say, be neo-Noir?)

Yes, the theme is more of a reference and you could do something pertaining to neo-Noir. I'm curious to see your entry!

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

It's the first time that I participate in this thread, I'm quite noob. I did two entries, enjoy it!

I'll try not to disappoint. mini/wink  I'm really liking the submissions thus far, looks like there's going to be a lot of competition.  Quick question: is there any limit to how many frames you can post?

Nope! You can submit as many frames as you like; whether it be one frame or a hundred frames.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Well, here's my first frame:

Also, here's an alternate take I made.

I do have another frame planned, but thus far I haven't gotten a satisfactory take, so I'll have to work on it yet.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I like the first one. And the second one is nice too. But, your lens appears to be really dusty, especially in the darker spots of your frames.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?
