Quack In Time

YewTewb

So after more than half a year of animating and procastinating, I finally managed to actually release a brickfilm, how about that?

Thanks to all the people who voice acted for this, and especially Shutterpoint seeing as I put a lot of pressure on him, and Chris for helping me with some aspects of the plot.
Also thanks to Squid for giving me a sound effect and image of his to use as an effect, and sorry to Jargon for having to put up with me at the start of this project.

Hope you enjoy.

Re: Quack In Time

That was amazing! The slapstick animation, the stupid quips, the absurd story, it was all great. The voice acting was really good, and really sold the hilarious writing. The only "problem" is the minimal sets, but I think that they suit the style of the film. The occasional light flicker is also unfortunate, but after some of my past experiences I've come to feel that light flicker, although annoying, is easily ignored when a film is really good. Also, your animation has gotten to a really high level, the comic emotion in the movement is really nice. I really love they way you approached this ridiculous idea, embraced your inner silliness, and made something great. I knew you were capable of something this entertaining, I'm glad you finally got around to making it. mini/smile

Re: Quack In Time

That was really good! The animation was awesome and smooth! The lighting was really good at times. I did notice light flicker from time to time, but other then that, this was a really good film. It was really funny and the voice acting was great! Good Job. mini/smile

Re: Quack In Time

That was very nice, I almost wish my voice acting were better. The only problem I see that bothered me is the ending.

Spoiler (click to read)

It seems like the story got stuck after Harrison died.

Consider the reviews for Brickflickers back in business!

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: Quack In Time

Wow, thanks for all the nice comments guys, I was afraid that after half a year of hyping this up to friends it would be disappointing, but I'm glad to know that people seem to like it.

Re: Quack In Time

This is just amazing, I really loved it.

First of all, the animation is just perfect and has some great ease-in ease out. Its really good, especially in the fight scenes. To be honest, this brickfilm has some of the best fighting out there. The lighting near the end is really creative and just looks great. There are some shots that are too dark and you can't really see anything but its not really much of a problem. Some of the sets are really good, and others are a bit bland. (The one scene with the street could have used a bit more decoration or something). And

I don't know why I didn't see that twist with Harrison being the duck at the end coming. It was hilarious though, especially with the bread dispenser joke.

Also, I loved the reference to that one brickfilm...with the dogs... and stuff.

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: Quack In Time

I love the slapstick comedy in this.

I love the animation in this.

I love everything about this.

I demand more animations!!!

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: Quack In Time

The story was enjoyable and funny, the animation was smooth and cartoony, the voice acting was good, and the references to your THAC X attempt and the one to pushover's BRAWL entry were enjoyable. What more can you want in a brickfilm? mini/smile

During the fight scene I couldn't help but think of the .gif you released.

Re: Quack In Time

Yes, you are back for good!

Your animation has matured quite nicely, the voice acting was very well done, and the jokes all seemed to work. I noticed

Re: Quack In Time

This was really great, dude! The story and all the jokes were great, but the animation was really the standout to me. You've got to teach me how to animate fight scenes like that sometime.

Re: Quack In Time

Good stuff! The animation and the voice acting were spot-on and excellent, and there was a lot of fantastic lightning. The jokes made me laugh out loud a few times, as did a lot of the of the animation, which was really just jaw-dropping. I'd really love to see more films, dude!

Re: Quack In Time

That was pretty dope. The quirky story, jokes and animation really held their own and I enjoyed the whole package very much.

Re: Quack In Time

It's really good, man, it's really good.  This is your best brickfilm without doubt.

I liked how you had a lot of action scenes with really fast paced movements.  It was especially cool how you had that scene where it cut between two separate fights.  It reminds me of how I've been wanting to do that sometime.
The dialogue was clever, and I like how you sneaked in a few references which didn't distract from the film, but were none the less enjoyable.

I liked how you tried some more interesting lighting setups, but in a few it was a bit hard to see the characters, which felt a bit odd.  In those scenes, I would have recommended shining an over-dramatic bar of light onto the faces of the characters, much like it is done in classic Star Trek on Kirk sometimes.  The people in the LEGO movie also used this effect a few times and called it "Shatnering"

You seemed to have put more effort into your sets than usual, the wall of the house sets looks interesting with some small details, but I still think you have a ways to go.
Try placing some plates on your base so that it's not the same dull old grey every time.  It needs some variation.
Nice job putting lighting into sets, but those secret base walls could use a little more detail, perhaps some more texture.
Also, most of the time the lighting looks a bit too warm and direct.  I'd suggest colour correcting or better yet getting some bulbs in a more neural hue.
For the secret base I think you should have mixed it up a little bit and shined the lights onto the ceiling, which would have made the light more diffused and soft, whist also dimming the set slightly to emphasize the fancy on set lights you had on the walls.

Re: Quack In Time

Such a good film Jon! Way to stick to working on it for so many months! I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it! It's definitely your best film!

Re: Quack In Time

Wow, been away for almost a week hiking so I didn't get to see all of these responses. Really appreciate it, and I'm quite surprised a lot of you seem to be very impressed with my animation, but thank you.

Re: Quack In Time

Heck, that is the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. Love the comedic style of your animation and the voice acting was great. You definitely made a top-notch film.

Re: Quack In Time

Absolutely fantastic. The animation is bouncy and lively, the gags are funny and some of the lighting effects are very pretty. The whole thing is filled with style and spirit, and kept me gripped from start to finish.

This is truly a film to be proud of. Excellent work.
