Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

The best Star Wars film of all time in my opinion. The effects are so well done from the lava flow the the smallest star fighter. The way the films ends and ties in to A New Hope is great as well. Yes I know some people dislike the prequels but they are some of my favorite films. I hope Star Wars episode 7 is even better. mini/smile

I'm so glad someone else besides just me likes the prequels, especially Revenge of the Sith which is also my favorite! Sure, they may have a few mistakes here and there, but when you look at the overall picture, it's amazing!

I don't mind the prequels, what I like about them is the fast paced duels and great use of minatures. Alas, I like the original trilogy more, as I grew up watching them. But I still like the prequels; despite Jar-Jar

A very successful movie franchise.

HOLY crap nobody knows just how right JK is about this. There is an edit of TPM out there called "The Phantom Edit" in which someone edited out all but the most significant scenes with Jar Jar. Do you know how much more boring the movie is without him? Honestly Jar Jar was the best part of that film, without him the film would have just been badly scripted talking head scenes about politics that nobody really cares about. I was sad that they left him out so much on the other two. And hoenstly all the hate surrounding Binks, the Ewoks, etc. are just these cray convuluted arguments for keeping Starwars übermacho or whatever but like NOooo not everything has to be hypermasculine!!

Unforgiven (clint eastwood version)
jeez, I was not a fan of this one. It was really predictable and kind of painful to watch. There wasn't anything inherently "bad" about the film but I really didn't enjoy it at all. We watched this in my philosophy class (3 days of the condor too) and the one we are watching now is Guess Who's Coming To Dinner which I absolutely love and I will write about it later when we finish it.

Dirty Dancing
This is like my parents' favorite film so I was like ehh I'll give it a shot but after twenty minutes I just left. It is so bad. They said "even if you don't like the film just stay for the dancing" but not even the dancing is any good! In fact it is really awful dancing! At least I have an answer for "worst romcom" now!

Avalon High

this was soooo predictable but at least it was better than Dirty Dancing! However, not great. I would have ignored the bad parts more readily if there had been singing and dancing à la High School Musical so without that it's a pretty corny thng

So weird, I literally watched the last 23 minutes of that a little while ago with my younger brother.

Batman '89

Earlier today, I thought about how good TDKR was (even though TDK is the best out of Nolan's set). Since I had already seen those, as well as Batman '66, I wanted to dive into "the middles". The "middles" is my nickname for the four Batman movies that came between '66 and Nolan. So, I bought a copy of this film (on a VHS tape) and enjoyed "Joker '89". mini/lol

But seriously, that Nicholson stole the show. Nicholson's Joker is remarkable, magnificent, lovely, brilliant, and excellent. Oh, and Keaton is good too.

I was on a fence about one particular scene where

Napier is revealed to have shot Bruce's parents, instead of Joe Chill, their original murderer in the comic books. In fact, when Napier stepped into the light, I was convinced it was Chill, up until the moment when he said his line, which instantly led me to understand that it was indeed Jack Napier, and not Joe Chill.

I kind of liked that idea, but I felt that it ruined the original spirit of the comics, and probably upset a lot of fans when the film came to cinemas.

Also, despite what critics said about

Spoiler (click to read)

Prince's original songs being used in the film, I actually kinda liked them. They were able to maintain the 1980s atmosphere, and kept the appearance of this film from looking too "film noir".

Burton's vision of Gotham is darkly beautiful and beautifully dark. I'm blown away by all the little details that were added to the sets. Elfman's score is marvelous, and compliments the film well (even though I've heard it all before, on the LEGO DC Comics videogame).

It might be true that '89 is a little slower-paced and darker than '66, and even Nolan's set. But, holy Clooney, Batman! There's no Bat like Bat '89!

9.3/10

Every Star Wars film is the best film ever.  Each one has a special place in my heart and soul.
(but especially Empire Strikes Back)

and what's this "overall picture"?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I hate Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Clones is on my list of worst films of all time, next to Batman and Robin, You've Got Mail, and The Terminal.

The Phantom Menace has a limited few redeeming qualities, but Clones has none. RotS's only redeeming quality is the Yoda VS Sidious/Anakin VS Obi-Wan sequence.

That's the thing. I love Jar Jar and always have. It's just media hype about the 'racist' element that lead people to unthinkingly defame him.

I don't think people hate him because they think it's 'racist', it's because people think he's frickin annoying (I am included in those people).

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

^ I second what Jampot said (except Jar Jar)

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Like I said I love the prequels, but I still love the first films to. Episode 4 is one of my fav films.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I think the reason "Phantom Menace" is the best of the awful prequels is because it has the least green screen and still somewhat looks like a star wars film. They at least filmed some stuff on an actual set. Its also the least...yuck.

It still sucks though, but if I had to watch a star wars prequel, phantom menace is the one I would choose.

From what I know, everyone hates jar-jar because he is like a cartoon and is annoying. Well you know what? So is most of "Attack of The Clones".  I like jar-jar as a character in a kids animated movie because he is somewhat entertaining and funny, but he should not be in a star wars movie.

I watched the original Star Wars films when I was around seven or eight years old. When I saw them, I was completely satisfied with the way it was all wrapped up. When I found out there was prequels, I could understand why because I didn't know what they were there for. When I asked my mother, her only explanation was

"I dunno, people wanted to know where Darth Vader comes came or something like that."

I don't really think that we needed the prequels. It just kind of takes the mystery out of the villains (one of the things that make them scary).

no more brickfilming *sad face*.
