Why apologize, you're agreeing with me!

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Set

New video I'm working on.

Probably the biggest set I've ever used in an animation.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Wow, thanks for the positive responses everyone!  I'll definitely use these then if I have a chance to.

You have to do a film, even a really short one, just to show off these trees/shrooms. You have to. It's the law.
BTW do you have Flickr?

Now that you mention it, maybe I finally have an excuse to make something with Mr. Vertigo in it, if I get the time to do so.  And yeah, I do have Flickr, but at this point I don't really use it for anything except for hosting images so I can post them here.

Also, when I saw the bottom trees, especially the small ones, I couldn't help but think of mushrooms.  Maybe it's just me...

Umm, that's because they're meant to be mushrooms...

Probably not actually. mini/XD Many of them (the palm tree and pith helmet shroom especially) are pretty fragile and have lots of fairly loose parts on them, so they're very easily bumped.  Just thinking about how to avoid set bumps makes me feel dizzy... mini/dizzy mini/sweat

Hmm, not bad, looks a bit plain.  And I'm not sure I get the point of the wall in the middle of the path.  I'd suggest adding a bunch of smaller green plates to make the textured ground look less square and more irregular; at this point it looks too clean doesn't really look natural.

I think it looks nice. mini/smile

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

It's for an upcoming film (a LEGO Movie tie-in, strangely) but this isn't meant to be minifigure scale. That said, I've tried to be as accurate to a Doric temple as possible (though I know there are a few problems).

I'm quite pleased with it, all in all. I wonder what my Classics teacher will think of it...

I also made this. It's part of a street, complete with movie poster and ATM. It's for the same video as the temple is.

looks nice but I think it would look a bit better if the poster were on top of the gray bricks and the maybe just one layer of gray or have the lights on the bottom. but thats just my opinion

Jampot: I like your temple. although is that all there is supposed to be? Also, maybe some statues or frescoes would add to it.

Osomstudios: It works well, but I think Dr. Dre is an actual person, so you may want to change that.

Yeah, I'm hoping to maybe expand the sides, put it in a rural setting (like Delphi is) and add an altar and some statues in front/around it. I'm not sure they would have had frescoes on the outside of the temple, or even at all at this kind of period, though there should be a frieze where the red band of studs is (since it's small scale, I can't fit it in). This won't just be the whole set. I know what you mean about it being a bit bare, though.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Frieze is what I meant instead of frescoes, but doing that with Lego on this scale is fairly tough.

Is this a scale where the statue of Athena in the Acropolis be minifigure sized?

No, there's no actual ratio of scale for this. It's only going to be in the background, so sizes are all rough approximations. The statue of Athena would probably be minifig-size, but again - rough approximations. By scale I meant that the temple's not to minifig scale. Glad you've taken such an interest in this build!

Have a look at this guy's flickr if you like this kind of thing. He's done some amazing models not just of Greek architecture, but Babylonian and Celtic too.

Try not to double post. You can quote two posts by clicking quote but opening a new window or tab when you do, and copying the text across.

I think this looks pretty nice, although, maybe you could switch out some of the white bricks for some pearl gold pieces. This is merely a suggestion, as this model may be your own intention.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Made a hut for the Panda minfig (and the little baby panda, too!). I really, really, really like this one. I was taking apart the Medieval Village set from a few years ago when I had the idea for this.

In the movie, is the panda a Master builder? I saw him for like a second at the end, but I couldn't see if he was there in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Love it,
Looks great, and it's a more rare and unique design.

Are you planning on using it in something?
