Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I know it's the wrong thread, but HOO hasn't posted this in the correct thread yet, so I'll go ahead and review it here.

Backyard has already addressed the issue with the unfinished walls, but I do like the organ design. I know the pews aren't much--they're just brown LEGO chairs. But, they look pretty good actually. I'm really looking forward to HOO 3's release.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Yeah, Mickey.  From now on I'll be more careful.  Check the correct thread in the next few days.

It feels a bit odd how he has sleeves, and yet his torso would seem to indicate that his sleeves has been ripped off.  Were I you, I would replace those sleeves with some yellow arms, also, I'd try to find a head that didn't look chewed.  Do you have another nice looking head that befits the character but is less damaged?  The legs could also use a bit of dusting before you animate.

But I really do like his pants/shirt/hair combination.

As for the next guy, I think he could go fore some darker pants. Black, dark brown, dark blue, dark grey, or something.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

My version of The Dark Knight himself.

I finally managed to get a Batman (the Bat vs. Tumbler Chase set) set and I built my own version of him.  I never liked the "fake rubber muscle" look of the old films and comics, and dislike the fact LEGO keeps making the Dark Knight suit in grey, even though it would be infinitely better in black.

Incidentally, does anyone have any suggestions for a non-flesh head?  I've tried a bunch of them, but none seem to work.

Also, after acquiring the Wizard Battle set I felt like making a bunch of creepy 'figs, so I did.

I mostly just wanted to show these off and also get feedback. The right one is basically done, the left one needs some work as i don't like the torso myself. Using yellow arms just makes it look like the original torso though, i don't like doing that.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

But then the torso your using doesn't make any sense. If his sleeves are torn, then he shouldn't have sleeves.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

So I went just a tiny bit crazy and made a bunch of Marvel figs. Here goes!

Shadowcat, Cyclops and Iceman
They're sort of a mashup of movie and comic, especially with Iceman. I can't do his full ice-form at the moment, so I went with a suit.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7303/11050355565_afb4452cc8_z.jpg

Sue Storm, Reed Richards and Johnny Storm
The Thing's sort of in limbo until I can think of a good way to make him without it looking tacky.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7435/11050486214_0a746e7e87_z.jpg

Agent Coulson
Coulson's such a legend, especially in Agents of S.H.I.E.LD., and I felt like having a go at the gun as well.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7361/11050513184_1ed491730e_z.jpg

Frost giant
At minifig scale, like in the videogame. I know, they're meant to be blue, but I didn't have any of the right pieces to do it blue, so I had to go with white.

Mastermind
The creepy-old-man of the Brotherhood of Mutants. Seriously, in Avengers: Origin, he's properly lechy about Scarlet Witch. *shivers*

The Other
It's funny 'coz he's played by Wesley from Angel, believe it or not. Again, this is the best I could do fig-wise. It's not supposed to be 100% accurate, and I think it looks half-decent.
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3791/11050538023_416d9cc53d_z.jpg

I did make some others, but I don't want to clog up the thread. No doubt I'll make some more soon. Plus, I have a bunch of my own characters that I keep meaning to build.

They should make Reed Richards out of rubber or some other stretchy substance. mini/shifty

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

These are some minifigures for a film I hope to start and finish sometime next year called "Welcome to Darkmoor"

The first is the stranger to the town.  He is a very ordinary person who is thrown into an unsettlingly strange and creepy story.

The first man the stranger meets.  He serves as a sort of guide to the eery town.

The Mayor and his assistants.

The shopkeeper.
I am, as of yet, unsure as to the number of bowler hats he should wear.  One or two?

All together

My hope is to start this after the next scene or two in I Am The Night.  I'm hoping for it to be finished around Summer if I start it properly.

I plan to set it in greyscale.  I want to try to experiment with removing colour to help with the creepy feel and maximize brick efficiency (for example: I could build a blue rockface, but it would look perfectly normal since it will just be grey on camera).

I plan on creepy and really, really, really strange.  Expect a casting call soon.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Looking good. All of the figures are great; I particularly like the fact that the majority of them is smiling.

It sounds like something coming out of Twin Peaks. Can't wait!

I love those figures, Squid! They look great and really creepy. I agree with Tobias too, the smiles make them seem even more eerie.. Can't wait for the film to come out!

Oh, and definitely just the one hat for the shopkeeper.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I am obsessed with overusing classic smileys.  It's nice to know that they actually fit here.
I like how the Mayor has an older smiley and it's a bit thinner than the other two.

Tobias wrote:

I no almost nothing about Twin Peaks besides that I think it takes place in a small town.  But if it's a creepy thing in a small town, I guess I'm doing well.

I'm basing this somewhat on the typical creepy little town type story.  I have no idea where those sorts of stories originate.  There are a few creepy little town episodes in Fringe, and that's all that comes to mind at the moment.

Though it's kinda like a mix between creepy and lolwut.

definitely just the one hat for the shopkeeper.

How about one and a half?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I say definitely two hats for the shopkeeper, I love the way that looks. mini/smile
