The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
OK, I'm gonna go ahead and say it...is it really all its cracked up to be? I mean, it's not all as good as The Dark Knight...so its one of those instances where the middle film is better. How 'bout that?
The acting was spot-on, especially by Jo-Go-Le (my nickname for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, if you were wondering), which actually came as a surprise to me. The 2 Nolans and Goyer have really cooked up a good screenplay, brilliantly accompanied by Zimmer's ever-fantastic musical score.
However, I found that the trailers and the spoofs conveyed Bane's voice falsely. I don't know about everyone else, but I could understand him fine. His voice was clear as a bell to me; but I dunno. Maybe that's just me. By the way, the majority of Bane's lines were really good, and Tom Hardy acted well. But one of them--
"You'll just have to imagine the fire."
Eh?
What does that even mean? I couldn't help but...well, you know...laugh a little. Plus, Bane's just not--in my opinion--a very interesting villain. Just destroying Gotham City? I mean, why can't his scheme be a little more intricate than that?
Like the Joker was a fun villain. He was so lively and almost funny in parts. But, Bane's just...kind of lame. Even Ra's al Ghul was much more interesting of an antagonist than Bane--oh, and by the way...I saw the plot twist coming a mile away.
Oh, and one more thing--Doritos product placement during the stadium scene.
But, Rises was real good, for a final installment. Just, not as good as The Dark Knight. Hmm...I think it's time to listen to the motion picture soundtrack again!
8/10
P.S. I hope you guys weren't too mad when this film didn't receive any nominations last January. The only reason The Dark Knight earned an OSCAR was because Heath edger died. I wish you guys wouldn't have gotten your hopes up.
Have you seen a big-chinned boy?
