Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

I built a Mini Cooper.

Some parts, such as the roof, are a bit square-ish looking, and I'm not entirely happy with the back, but overall I'm very pleased with how it ended up.

I built this more for fun rather than specifically for a brickfilm, but there's a good chance I might use it in future projects at some point.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Aw, it's cute. At first glance I could definitely tell it was a Mini Cooper, nice job. I agree with you, though, the back sticks out a bit too much. I don't know if it's possible or not, but if you can, try pulling that back plate in 1 stud.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

That is a really good Mini Copper. I agree with MW.

I need some feedback on this set. It is going to be in the background of a Halloween special (if I can make it in time..) and it will probably be a a bit out of focus. It might look a bit dull now, but I think it will look much better in a bit darker room and out of focus and with special effects... What do you think?
(I dont know if I could post it yet, but whatevah YOLO) (EDIT: it was only 2 posts including mine when it should have been 3-4, sorry..)

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Mjornir, add some green plates here and there to make the ground look more natural. It would be nice to add some flowers/grass, if you have that.

Galactic? That's not a set...or a prop.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Again not a set, nor a prop--but merely an ordinary frame.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

If you're looking for the right thread to post frames from your film, check it out here. As for the shelves, they're pretty basic, but definitely do the job. The color scheme is also quite nice for the shot.
(Also, if you have multiple things close together to post, use the "edit" button...it helps keep the thread less congested.) mini/smile

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

I like the idea of the tan tiles thrown about, that looks quite nice. I'd try to avoid things like the one grey brick in the wall, though. I realized you did that in order to mount the torch, but a general rule of thumb is that if you can't build a set the way you want while maintaining and appropriate and (if your going for realistic) realistic color scheme, it's better to try something else. mini/smile

I like the little details you've got there mini/smile The small things like the random pilings of the papers make it look like an actual shelf mini/smile

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Thanks. It took me about 5 hours to make.:)

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

I thought I'd share this phone booth because the roof doesn't appear in the short I built it for, and I really like the roof. (I saved it, in case I can use it in something else mini/tongue )

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

That looks cool.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Cool phone booth... a shame that lego guy didn't get there without falling flat.  Oh, wait a minute!  Looks like he's breakdancing on a cardboard!  Good 2c he's all right.

I'd like to see a view of the inside.

Here's a link to a phone booth set not for a BrickFilm, but just one of my fantasy Lego sets that I always wanted to see made into a real set.  LMK what you think of the booth.
