Re: Holding Our Own Episode 2c: Diss Jockey

Bro, sometime you should do a livestream of an episode and then get a laughtrack that way. That would be freaking amazing.

Kudos for including Pet Shop Boys!

Re: Holding Our Own Episode 2c: Diss Jockey

That would be amazing, but my internet access is only on a shared computer without the capabilities.  Laugh track for animation is kind of a weird concept in itself.  I decided to include it because HOO was inspired a lot by the feel of "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" and "The Flintstones", both which use laugh tracks.  I was really pleased with the audio throughout the entire segment, especially when Hector is driving by, listening to Cindy Bradley's "Massive Transit".  The crazy thing is that the song won't exist in the universe of "Holding Our Own" for another 2 years!!!!

The Pet Shop Boys reminds me, I have to post the winner of the Carleigh contest.

The amount of effort that you put into planning for your films is noticeable. The timing of your animation goes perfectly with the audio. It's little elements like that that helps to create a realistic atmosphere. The voice acting was solid, and the characters were believable. You do a really good job of establishing unique and personable characters with different personalities. All in all, this was very nicely done. Obviously, the technical aspects such as animation, lighting, and cinematography weren't perfect, but the solid writing kept me entertained.

Re: Holding Our Own Episode 2c: Diss Jockey

Thanks, Juggernaut, for your comments.  I have had prior practice with timing before brickfilming, as I edited my own music videos and hand-drawn animations.  The timing of the laughter, however, took a while for me to get the hang of.  As for the voice acting, I owe that to such a talented staff.  In addition to the ensemble cast, I also am thrilled by Jakunen Neesan's performance as Carleigh Zietz.  If you need a great female vocalist and you already have the BiM ladies in use, you can visit her official web site: http://jakunenneesan.wix.com/home  She is prominent in the "Sims 3 overdub" genre of animation, kind of a parallel to the brickfilm community I discovered is out there.  But I hope, for the sake of AnimeNinja, DarthVincentPrice and Brick7's incredible performances, that they are nominated for best ensemble cast in the next BiM awards!

Also, thanks for forgiving the technical qualities of my work and enjoying the story.  One day, I may have a camera with more manual functions, but until then, I'm continuing to strive to make the flicker/jumpiness as minimal as possible.  You should find segment 4 the most improved of all 4 segments.

I watched your preview of -0, and it looks RIVITING!  This looks like a stellar thriller.  I felt bad for that poor lady, though.

Very cool bud. Juggernaut pretty much is bang on with my sentiments with how solid the story and the characters and your sets are. Keep it up. I look forward to more of what is now one my new favorite internet series.

Re: Holding Our Own Episode 2c: Diss Jockey

Thanks, Mr. Ferrara!  Means much knowing your own production values!  Please let your friends & online community know about the series.  The last segment will post next week.
