Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Nice 'fig!  The only thing that looks a bit off to me are his arms, which look odd with their somewhat chunky appearance and black hands.  But otherwise I like it.

As for a name, how about Captain Thaddeus Whitehook?

(Completely random, I know.)

Alright, so here's why I need feedback:
I ordered pieces for the blue guy a few months ago, but ended up losing him. I got another one, but tonight, I found the blue guy stuck under my couch (which is covered in kilos of plastic). Now, I have to decide which one to use (it's Isaac from "Minecraftia", by the way).

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Are you sure that's not Issac? It looks pretty close to the casting call picture containing said guy.
I like the red/orange one better, the color matches his hair, and that fall-like color palate all kinda comes together to make a pretty good figure.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

My computer blue screened last night, but here is my reply:
I mistook Isaac for Charles (they're brothers), but I like the green one better, but I'm still waiting for more replies!
Also, what should I do with the leftover figure (depending on which one I choose)?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

This is a character for an upcoming film of mine which features a team of crazy superheroes with some weird powers, called The Incredible Mr. Pumpkin-Head:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8122/8646013070_1a07c6791b.jpg

Here is the full team:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8121/8644918561_a475f79807.jpg

From left to right:  Eco-Man, The Incredible Mr. Pumpkin-Head, The Moustachioed Marvel, Pizza-Man, Mr. Vertigo, and an alien whom I have yet to name.

Also, I've been experimenting around with making some Batman villain minifigs:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8545/8646023518_9d0e50ddc5.jpg

From left to right: Killer Croc, Dr. Crane/Scarecrow (when imprisoned in Arkham), Scarecrow, and my rather sad attempt at a Zsasz minifig.  I'm not that happy with Scarecrow's head, but it's the closest thing I have.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Give the pumpkin guy a hat.  A big one.  Preferably wizard.

I like croc's head, along with scare's body, but I don't get Croc's orange pants or the use of those random neck thingies.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Out of curiosity, how would the hat improve Mr. Pumpkin-Head?  I'm not sure if a wizard hat would fit with the suit.  I did consider giving him a fedora at one point, but originally I'd envisioned a non-minifig version of him which was a tall skinny guy who wears a suit and long coat, (a bit like Slenderman but not so extreme) and a big pumpkin (which is in fact a special armored helmet) on his head.  Since the pumpkin was relatively large in proportion to the rest of the body I didn't consider giving him a hat.

The orange pants are supposed to be part of the prison uniform for Arkham Asylum, and the neck brackets are supposed to be part of a harness thing to restrain Croc.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

What you need there is a bowler hat. Fedoras and Top hats, while stylish, are overused for villains. A wizard hat would also look nice. But yeah, it also works with no hat.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Mr. Pumpkin-Head is a hero, not a villain.  Also, what do you think of the rest of the team?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

oh then I guess it's fine as it is mini/bigsmile

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I don't really like Scarecrow's body. Incase you didn't notice, he has a tunic and skulls on him, which makes him look Voodoo.

Of course I noticed.... that was the whole point. mini/eh  I chose that body/leg combination because it gave him a creepy feel and I thought the skulls fit in quite well.  Every Scarecrow incarnation I can think of (besides Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy version) wears a tunic of some sort.  Besides, what's wrong with Voodoo?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Some of you have probably already seen my preproduction thread for this, but I'd like some input on the characters specifically.

I'm very happy with the two guys on the right, they're just how I want them.  The two guys on the left though...I'm not sure.  I feel like Biker Bob on the far left is missing something, and I'm not sure if the torso really fits Driver Dan in the center left.  Any suggestions?

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8552/8708922478_d3d1f28332_z.jpg
These are the generic bad soldiers.  I want them to have the sort of look they have now, do you think there's a better combination?  I have so many minifig pieces, chances are, if you have any suggestions I'll probably have the parts needed.

So yeah, is there anything that just looks 'wrong' to you, or something that you feel really needs to be there?
Thanks!

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Hmm... for Biker Bob, give him some hair.  And maybe change that face--I find the grey stripes look like military camo facepaint or scars, either of which look pretty out of place with normal street-clothes.  The torso on Driver Dan is fine, but i'm not 100% sure about his face.

Also, give the soldiers on the left lack or grey hands; they look much better than grey or yellow ones.  And maybe give them goggles or visors (preferably black) as well.  And, if they're soldiers, they should have weapons too.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Most of these are just for fun, not animations. Here goes!

The Agency has hired a new team of recruits. From left:
Agent Wade, head of marine operations. Very mellow and good-natured, and protective of the environment.
Agent Sly, one of the Agency's best snipers.
Agent Colt. Very jaded and hardened by years of experience. Worked for the CIA before being approached by the Agency.
Agent Sweep, a former tennis champion who now puts his dexterity and reflexes to fighting injustice.
Dr. Inferno had his Doctor status taken away, and now goes by Lord Inferno. He's still a criminal and scientific mastermind, building all kinds of dangerous new inventions and causing problems for the Agents. He's managed to build himself a more lifelike arm.

The Vampire Council. Every few years, they come together to discuss supernatural happenings, and to semi-govern the vampires of the world. From left:
The Old One: The oldest 'living' vampire, the Old One has given him/herself (it is hard to tell which) almost completely over to the animalistic, primal side of vampire nature, resulting in being permanently possessed of a batlike visage. The Old One is from before the time of Beowulf, and his/her dark magic is strong.
The Ice Vampire: A powerful ice-mage in life, his powers were greatly enhanced on becoming a vampire. However, he is even more susceptible to fire as a weakness. He likes to think he is the only ice-powered vampire, and refuses to accept that there may be others.
Heinrich Blutstehlen: The current head of the Vampire Council, Heinrich is a German vampire with the power of haemopotent replication; he gains the powers of those whose blood he drinks. However, these powers slowly fade away over the years. His surname means 'steals blood'.
Naldo: A young vampire from Italy. Doesn't really respect the council's more senior members.
Ummidius: A vampire necromancer who acts as the secretary for the Vampire Council, taking down the minutes and so on. He's old and wise, but often gets confused. He was turned into a vampire when he was already ninety years old.

These are characters from an animation I thought about doing a while ago. Probably won't get around to it. From left:
Amphithea, a Greek maiden, who acts as Callidice's sidekick, and sometime moral compass. She normally ends up saving Callidice!
Callidice, the last of the Amazon warriors. She travels across the ancient world, helping those in need and fighting evil tyrants. She normally gets in over her head, and her sidekick Amphithea has to save her. However, Callidice then goes and beats up the bad guy.
Lycurgus the Black, the bad guy. He's an evil sorcerer, using the dark powers of Kaos to his advantage. He currently wears the Midas Medallion, which lets him turn anything into solid gold by touching it (though he can control it, unlike King Midas).

An updated suit for Caden Hawke. I thought his old one looked too close to Johnny Thunder. The animation is coming, but it's been massively delayed. Massively. I need to rethink it all.

Farouk (meaning "person who can tell right from wrong" in Arabic) is a modern djinn. He does not live in a bottle or a lamp, but he keeps moving from object to object. The home he puts inside that object remains the same - a huge palace full of riches and splendour. Though he enjoys wealth and material goods, he has a strong sense of right and wrong, and will always fight the good fight.

I have a lot of others that I won't post here right now. Don't want to clog up the thread!

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The vampires look really cool.  And I'm a huge fan of vampires since I sort of am one.  I particularly like the one with the insectoid armour, however, he's quite out of focus.  While it's a cool picture, it's not very practical for showing off everyone.

You're right. There are some okay pictures on Flickr, but I'll take some more when I get the chance.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Yes, the vampires are amazingly perfect.
The other designs are fine, but not stand-out.
No changes recommended except switching out the lady agent's head, as I don't like that design.
Also, try adding something to that villain's shoulders, preferably something in white.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Does anyone know a good way to make Medusa's snake hair? I don't know if I'm going to be able to buy the actual minifig on eBay or not, at least for a while.
