Century Gothic is the best font, in my opinion.
Very simple, but clean, and nice.

I'm pretty sure it's the same font Sméagol uses in many of his things.

Just look at how awesome it is.

That one's actually Futura. I've used Century Gothic other times, though, such as the poster for My Father is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. They have a similar look to them. I tend to favor Futura but I've used both quite a bit lately. I need to branch out a little.

Futura's nice, but I also like Humanist font.  Have you tried that one?

Re: Café Corner

Almost three years ago, I gave my friend a LEGO Squidward key chain.

https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/544188_545122108844469_669571021_n.jpg

It's had a rough life.

Re: Café Corner

Oh, wow. The poor, poor thing.
That's the number one reason I don't carry minifigures around on my keys.
My keyring has one of the white plate thingies, the old one's printing got rubbed off so I'm using the back up now.
I've also got a black 2X4 brick keychain on my car keys.
It's fun to play around and attach the two rings together via the Lego parts. mini/eh

Anyway, I'm really glad Lego bricks stay together well. Had a medium sized set fall off of my table today. Still haven't gotten 100% back together, but it's close and thankfully didn't shatter that badly.

Re: Café Corner

I was thinking about getting some Lifelites and was wondering if this was any good, thoughts?

Re: Café Corner

While it would be nice for all the different colors, but the larger plates would be much harder to integrate into a set than the smaller LED cables. Using one of these, and some transparent plates may be easier to use.

And I don't mean to discourage you, but it's pretty hard to get good lighting with Lifelites, They're great for a point on light, (Like this.) but not for something that needs to light up a small area. I usually just give up and switch to my flashlight that's got some other colors built in. I find that a combo of both the larger, brighter flashlight, and the smaller Lifelites works best. (See here.)

Re: Café Corner

There are tricks you can use to make lights seem brighter than they are.

Just make it so that any non life lights are rather dull, and give your camera some settins so it gets a lot of light, and the little lights will be brighter in contrast.

I do this with my Batman figure a lot, since his face isn't actually that bright.

Re: Café Corner

Yes, there are some great tricks, but at that point it's hard to keep things from getting grainy, at least with a webcam.
I'm sure DSLRs are a lot better at low-light filming, and that's most likely my problem.

Re: Café Corner

Well I have light filters as well, so I was thinking about putting on for example a red filter and having the red lifelites glowing for show to make it look like they're causing all the light or something.
By the way Pritchard how did you even get those lights into those positions on the floor, they must be going through the whole of the bottom of the set.

Re: Café Corner

Your idea should work, and I'd like to see it when you get a nice set-up.

Yup, they are.

The wires themselves only need about a plate's height of gap to go through, but the control box needs about two brick's worth of gap to avoid smashing and breaking the plugged-in wires.

Re: Café Corner

You can raise the set above your table, so there is room to feed the cables under without them being seen, and then you can feed the light and cable through some tube pieces. They actually sell special lampposts, through which you can easily feed the light.

I have gotten the chance to try out LifeLites at an event, and I thought they were pretty cool. On set lighting has been a pain for what I have done so far, so it might be nice.

Re: Café Corner

Yes, they're really nice. I received some for my birthday, and I really like how they look. I've used them a few times so far: in this, for the lights in the elevator, here, for lighting in the cave and treasure chest, and one of my personal favorites, this video, for lighting the table thing.

I would definitely recommend them.

Re: Café Corner

Aren't we glad we have nice mods who don't cause a bunch of trouble just because it's the First of April?
I've already been taken in by several stunts, and it's nice to have a safe, sane haven to return to.
Or maybe they're just lazy... mini/eh

nah the mods are all about april fool's jokes

i think they just feel like it isn't worth it anymore

Re: Café Corner

I actually quite enjoy internet April fools pranks. I was kind of disappointed when I came here to find same ol' BiM. I was expecting to come here, only to find that the site was now called "Blunt in Motion."

Re: Café Corner

The last time any of the staff did anything for April Fool's Day was two years ago when the forums were reorganized into a single forum for the day. I think all the topics already here before then were gone (I'm not sure) (EDIT: Nope, just found some posts in reply to a topic posted the day before), and a bunch of new ones were created. When the forums were restored the next day, only one topic created on that day (April 1st, 2011) didn't get deleted (most of the posts on any topic were deleted, too).

Anyone remember that?

EDIT: I can't find the topic I was looking for, but I found a topic with posts from that day in it.
There should be something where you can search for posts by date.
