Well, if you ever wanted to it would be easier to build and film on (bigger animation room=more space for larger sets).

True.

While everything's being done, two walls will be re-painted in the studio.  I could just keep it as basic white, or I could have it be sky blue and use the wall itself as a background, which would be bigger and thus widen my possibilities for camera angles.  Though, white is nice since it's colour neutral is certain situations.  Another nice option would be grey, and I could get an over-cast look, which I've never done before.

Re: Café Corner

Hell, why not paint each wall a different color? If it is to be your space having one green, one blue, one gray, and one white wall would be pretty helpful. Limitations begone!

Of course having two different colors (in your proposed scenario) is just as fantastic. Having a dedicated studio sounds nice.

Re: Café Corner

Personally, if I had a room that was a dedicated studio, I'd paint all the walls a matte black color. This cuts down on light reflection and color spill, and I have often wished I had that kind of setup available to me. Brightly colored walls will make the light and spill hard to control.

Re: Café Corner

I'd probably paint it all black, except for a green wall, very useful for greenscreening.

Re: Café Corner

Totally random question alert:

I've been wanting to get a hold of some cool music to listen to. (Both while animating and while driving longer distances.)
So, which do you think is a better deal? Or the one ya'll think I should get?

Doctor Who Series 5 at $18.
The Hobbit at $14.
Both the FOTR and TTT sountracks for $19.

Each set is about the same length, and while I'm leaning towards the Hobbit, I just don't know.
And yes, there are ways of listening to them online for free, but they may not exactly be legal, and I'd like the physical CDs.
Help? mini/wink

Re: Café Corner

Ooh, that's a hard one. I really don't know which I'd pick.... mini/tongue

My sister would probably go with the Hobbit/LOTR ones since she doesn't watch DW, but that doesn't really help you either, does it.

Edit: Actually, I would probably go with the Hobbit or FOTR/TTT soundtrack first, then DW.

OK, it's funny that you should say that Mighty, because that's what I was leaning toward also.
My brother put a very strong vote in for DW, (Well, more a vote against LOTR/Hobbit.) but it looks like Howard Shore's work will win.

I'll probably pick The Hobbit, since it's the cheapest.
But if anybody else wants to voice an opinion, you're welcome to do so. (Hint, hint)

Also, a lot of us have noticed the dropping participation lately, and while I admit I'm part of that, I was wondering if anybody has a good ideas on how to get people back on. My life's gotten a lot busier and crazier lately, but surely that can't be happening to everybody.

Re: Café Corner

Get the Lord of the Rings stuff.  Yep.

I don't green screen, nor do I have any interest in it or even feel like I'd want it.  I've found most people's LEGO attempts at the effect quite pathetic, and I don't think I'd have much luck in doing any better.
On top of all of that, I wouldn't want it casting a vivid green reflection upon everything when I'm doing something else.

(Also, I only have two wall to be painted.  I probably will just go white, though)

Re: Café Corner

I have a request for any neat, decent, good looking fonts you guys know of. I'm sort of looking around for this style (not this font though). I'd like to even see some other fonts you like.

Century Gothic is the best font, in my opinion.
Very simple, but clean, and nice.

I'm pretty sure it's the same font Sméagol uses in many of his things.

A friend of mine actually though the same (that it would be a crappy effect), but when he tried it with a wall, the greenscreen came out perfectly. It was for a live action project, but I don't think it would be too different for stop motion.
Anyway, I was just suggesting, actually, I don't use green screen either.

That one's actually Futura. I've used Century Gothic other times, though, such as the poster for My Father is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. They have a similar look to them. I tend to favor Futura but I've used both quite a bit lately. I need to branch out a little.

Re: Café Corner

As an update, my wonderful mom offered to pay for half of any soundtracks that I wanted to buy, so I got both The Hobbit, and The Two Towers. Think I prefer The Hobbit, but they're both great. mini/wink

Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Café Corner

Ohhh....Nice.
I'm personally waiting on the EE to come out, no need to purchase the TE only to watch it a time or two.

Re: Café Corner

I'm not going to watch it again until I can watch it together with the other two films.  So I'm not going to see it for a really long time.
