Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I made a huge batch random minifigures.
These are all supposed to be creatures from Bogeyland.  I may make a film about these guys eventually, but not anytime soon.

From left to right: Fogpot, Eggstalk, Bogey Lord Oniongust, Riddleplumb, Spidersnap, Cabbagerash, Picklesnort, and Chalkwax.

From left to right: Jellywart, Celeryscratch, Wheatsauce, Nagradish, Baconrust, and Garlicpaste.

I think that this one, Cabbagerash, is my favourite.

And Spidersnap is really cool.

I really love bent legs Wheatsauce has.

If I do make something with these guys, Chalkwax will be the primary Bogeylander character.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Those are epic ANP! I especially like Spidersnap and Bogey Lord Oniongust. Where did Spidersnap's head come from?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

You have a lot of Darth Maul heads.

I really like these, especially Cabbagerash and Wheatsauce (his bent legs alone make him awesome).  The Darth Maul head and Lord Vladek armour combination on Fogpot/Jellywart looks great too.
Just out of curiousity, why do most of these characters' names involve food, and why are most of them carrying axes or saws?

Also, how's your camera movement tutorial coming along?

The Space Police base.  One of the villains had that head, he wore Lord Oniongust's mask over it, so you couldn't really see it.

Indeed.  My brother and I acquired every single Episode I set from the original line, including two Sith Infiltrators.

For the names, I just tried taking two very random words which don't fit together at all, then putting them together. I kept doing food for some reason.
Saws and axes are creepy.  I like creepy.  If I do finally get to make the film with these things, there's going to be a whole lot of fighting.

Rather slowly, I haven't worked on it much lately. I'm very slow at editing. very slow.  And I've wanted to record a different thing for it.

Vampire hunter
Keeping his identity as closely-kept a secret as Area 51, the vampire hunter travels the world slaying the most evil vampires there are. He's saved more people than he can count, but he doesn't know when enough is enough. Now he's out to slay the most dangerous vampire of them all - the infamous Neculai, Lord of Transylbatvia.

Neculai
The Lord Vampire of Transylbatvia, Neculai has ruled the country for centuries. Nothing is known about his human life, nor how he came to be a vampire, but now he is the most feared and most dangerous of his kind. Nobody - mortal or immortal - who has challenged him have ever been seen again. He waits for an opponent truly worthy of him...

May do this as an animation, but I'm not sure. I sort of idly built loads of the sets and characters after getting the Wolverine Chopper set, 'coz I wanted to try out some of the new pieces, but I don't know that this would be anything other than a bad-ass fight between a vampire hunter and a super-vampire, like a really toned-down, goreless version of Blade. Plus, my success rate with getting through projects is extremely low, considering how the only thing I've uploaded in months was a 15 second tennis match.

Au
That vampire looks marvelous.
Particularly with the bat head.

It would be better, though, if the purple were consistent.
Black hands with a pre-2004 purple cape.
Or make the torso be something with post-2004 purple.

(I need to acquire that hair)

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Thanks! The hair's Wolverine's, from the helicopter set.

And I totally get what you mean about the purple. I think I have the old Dumbledore somewhere...

Lucky!  I wish I had more classic SW sets.  I've been looking through eBay, but, alas, the prices are so ridiculously expensive...

Ah.  Still, I thought it's grammatically acceptable to use "he" if one doesn't know the gender of the being in question or when referring to something generically.

For the names, I just tried taking two very random words which don't fit together at all, then putting them together. I kept doing food for some reason.

I see.  I really like some of the names, like Chalkwax, Nagradish, and Spidersnap, but I find some of them (e.g. Baconrust or Oniongust) a bit too outlandish and over-the-top.  Plus, I think you used the food-word combination a bit too much here--the novelty and originality wears off after a while.  SOme names along the lines of "Ouskavar" would work well for some of the characters here, I think.  Just out of curiosity, does Cabbagerash's body have articulated legs?

Saws and axes are creepy. I like creepy.  If I do finally get to make the film with these things, there's going to be a whole lot of fighting.

mini/shifty Uhh, fair enough... mini/tongue  Seriously though, I do like the look of these characters, and if there will be a film, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Rather slowly, I haven't worked on it much lately. I'm very slow at editing. very slow.  And I've wanted to record a different thing for it.

Too bad, it would have come in useful for a project I'm working on (it has a deadline--1st March--so I've shot 95% of the footage as of now)... still, I hope you can get it done.

Jampot:  I like it!  I second Squid though, the purple hands look out of place.  I think dark grey, black, or flesh hands would look better.  I really like the Magneto head, but I'm not sure the Vampire Bat head fits in with the rest of the minifig.

Yes, I guess I should work on some of the names.  I'll keep some of the good ones, throw out the others.

It shouldn't be flesh, or else he'll have to change the hands when he goes bat.  Changing out hands a lot can damage them, so it's usually best to work around it if possible.

True, good point--I hadn't thought of that.

By the way, I think that Cabbagerash figure would look really good in your Vampire Cinema project.  Maybe he could be the brother of Nora Webb, who was also affected by the witch's curse, and as a a result has become a hermit and now lives in a dark mysterious swamp, safeguarding... something.  The monster hunters need to find him because he knows the location of Redgrave or something along those lines.  I know, this is a really random suggestion, but for some reason I thought of that when I saw the minifig. mini/XD

I don't think that it would really fit into the film at all.  There's not really any reason to add it to it.  Doing so would only add more unnecessary stuff to the narrative, which is already gigantic for a brickfilm.  I don't want to distract from the primary story.

Though, the figure could work marvelously for one of Nora's parts.  She'd just have her hair tucked under her hat, and be on stilts with a ridiculously baggy coat, and thus may fit into one of the films within the film.

No problem, it was just a really random suggestion of mine.  Either way, it would be awesome to have this minifig in the film.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

My turn:
I'm trying to come up with a sigfig, and hoping not to need to buy anything, so here are a few different faces that might work. I could also change the arm color if need be.

Here's the first head, which, depending on how you look at it, is Loki's, Bruce Wayne's, or a Sith Trooper's. mini/tongue Probably my favorite out of the lot.
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests2-28-131_zpsf755186a.jpg

Second head:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests2-28-132_zps31c672fb.jpg

Third and so forth:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests2-28-133_zpsea0c57c3.jpg

http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests2-28-134_zpsb4f663d1.jpg

Which do you think looks best, and should I stick with that torso (and also does the arm color look good)?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like the first head. If it was my fig I'd change the legs to match the arms, but that's just my opinion...

I need a new name! HELP

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Okay, here are a couple different leg pieces.

Tan legs to match the arms:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests3-1-131_zpsde26694f.jpg
I don't particularly like that combination.

I just found my dark green legs, and I'm really liking this 'fig.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Dark green legs looks really good to me mini/smile I really like that fig

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like the color of the dark green legs, but it just seems too plain.
Like it needs a different colored belt or some printing or something.
The Dark Tan legs/arms combo is probably the next best, but I think they could all use a quiver on the back.

Well, a quiver or a cape, but preferably a quiver.
Could you try having a short dark green cape on the Dark Tan version? (Frodo's cape)
That may look cool.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The dark green legs would probably be the best choice for what you are looking, although, they may look plain, it would be quite hard to get printed dark green legs

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

To get it to look less plain you could use the "hip/belt" piece of the legs from either the brown or dark tan legs. And, a cape or quiver like Pritchard said mini/smile

I need a new name! HELP

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Okay, more variations.

Quiver, and tan legs and arms:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests3-1-134_zps03d39e36.jpg

Cape, tan legs/arms:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests3-1-133_zpscd8530ca.jpg

Cape, dark green legs, tan hips and arms:
http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag30/mightywanderer/SigfigTests3-1-135_zps2435cfd8.jpg
This one is probably my favorite.
