Topic: A new project test scene finished my longest yet, Need advice and help

Hey guys, so this is my second video now, I got it to be better quality however when rendered some parts were a disaster can anyone help me and tell me as to why? Infact I'm confused as I shot this at 1280x720 am I doing something wrong? It seems to happen when I render it all the time, I'd really appreciate it, on sony vegas it doesn't do this so that's why I'm confused as in the preview screen, besides that can you guys tell me what you think of it?


Note: Some parts, as in sounds went offline, I don't know how as sony vegas was on whole time, it was be a glitch or something, so I lost my really good walking sound effect.

Better!
The credits could be shortened a bit more by eliminating the large gaps between each line, but hey, at least they're shorter than the video this time!

The first part of the video, other than the interpolated frame-rate, was good quality-wise. And I'm not sure what went wrong later on. The sounds could be improved, but again, that may be due to the glitches later on.

0:00-0:24 is all very impressive. The frame-rate issue was the only big flaw, and while it could use a bit more easing in/out, it's leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of your work.

0:25-0:40 had a noticeable drop in quality. With stuff from the guy's arms swinging too far up, and then stopping too quickly, to odd camera jumps. The animation was overall decent, but could use some polishing.

0:41-1:36 Huge drop in quality. The screen begins is jumping around, the figures jerk back and forth, the animation is choppy, and the quality gets pretty fuzzy.

1:37-1:40 White light! White light! mini/lol
The quality jumps to about half-way in between the first part, than the middle area. Animation is comparable to the preceding section. And the exposure shoots through the roof.

Thank you for watching and that you believe its better, I thought it was better than the last one as well,

I thought the credits were short, but I understand your point, I'll fix that up in my next film.

Yeah I'm not sure either what went wrong with the quality, I was so disappointed, I put alot of effort into making it,

but as I said, this one was stressful, I been really busy so I hadn't had time to finish this days ago so I left sony

vegas on, by doing so somehow my sound effects went offline, it was a disappointment, as I really liked my other

walking sound effect better, even thought this one did fine.

0:00-0:24 thank you! I'm glad you liked it, I really appreciate it, what did you mean by frame rate issue? Do you mean I should have put a higher fps? and I know what you mean about easing in, and easing out, I'm still haven't figured that out quite yet.

0:25-0:40 I agree, I wish the quality didn't drop, I think if it didn't it could have had quite a positive attribute, I hope in my next film this doesn't happen.

1:37-1:40 Haha yea I noticed this white light during pre-production while taking the frames, and did not know the

cause of this I tried to fix this by adjusting the lights but it didn't work.

You've come a long way, and you'll continue to deal with the techincal problems as you grow more comfortable w/ Vegas Studio.  The credits are more concise!  Better!  That separates your films by ones by 14-yr old girls (important).  You do great walking cycles, much different than mine.  I kind of base my walking on the comedic cartoon animals of the golden age.  I also like how you added a few props like the fence & tools: minimal, but just enough to give the viewer the context needed.  Just a little bit makes a big difference.  Can't wait to see yr crime story in lego.  I'm still working on the second script 4 ya, just have been going through a lot this winter.

An example of easing in and out (i think this is what he's referring to): when a guy moves his arms, make the first and last frame or two of movement more slight, because in real life people's arms accellerate from zero, then decellerate back to zero.  I also like to make the character's arms move a bit beyond where they're going to end up, then ease back a bit.

Off-topic, but why do you put a space between each of your lines?
Anyway, here we go.

What did you mean by frame rate issue?

You filmed in one frame-rate, and exported in a higher frame rate forcing the computer to add frames in the middle.
What's happening is you're bringing in the frames and spacing them out so it's 15 FPS, then you're exporting the movie at 24 FPS, and the computer is adding the ghost frames in there.

For example, you filmed frames A and B, and the computer put frame AB in between. Problem is, frame AB is simply a half-way faded-in version of B on top of a solid version of A. I believe the effect is called "Ghosting."

This won't happen if you export in 15 FPS. mini/wink

More-or-less what Holding said.

It's good as it is, but there's always room for improvement.

Hey Holdingourown thanks so much for your positive feedback I really appreciate infact
I redone the whole film from scratch in post production and now its HD! And I am very
eager to start the story of the crime drama your writing, its only a matter, of time
now, I'm still ordering parts, as for that movie it deserves proper scenes, and sets.
I'm glad you liked the props, it was there to
show some detail for viewers as I'm glad you spotted! Haha, I'm happy about the credits to, I did say I was
going to fix them in my next film.
Its ok I know you are busy with other things, so its alright
thanks for doing it by the way I really appreciate it,
When you say easing out, this is my question, just tell me if its
correct answer, do you mean by the first and last, they should be as if
as sword was hitting a lego fast to look like a powerful hit? as in less
a big leap in hand movement?

Hey Pritchard, its all good, I normally put space between each line, as I feel
it looks more punctual, I guess thats just me tho, I relise what you mean't and
that was definetly a mistake I made, which was not intended, I figured out why,
my movie went blurry, which I actually redone the whole film, SIGH!
it was a pain, but I had to, I wanted you and others to notice some of its
true colours, and that way be able to watch it a bit more willingly, I've
posted it in the WIP, as I redone the whole thing and wanted it to be a film
on its own. I'm glad you believe theirs good in my film, I appreciate that,
And I agree with you, There is need for improvement, and I'll continue to practice
and show you what I can make.

I meant simply that for any movement, it begins and ends with a very small movement.  If two things collide, itt's obviously going to disrupt the motion (Newton's second Law), and you have to animate the resistance and other violence that results from it.  It's all Newtonian motion.The closer yr moving objects adhere to these laws, the more realistic it will look.
