Wow. That's really good!
The only thing which would really improve it would be having it be transparent and glow, though, you probably don't have enough bricks for that.
But there really should be a few random black plates on top, since the top of real lave usually has several black spots.

I'd agree with ANP that transparent plates would look work really well, but it's unlikely to be practical. Great work!
