Its a fact of life that winning an Oscar is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant - particularly since the Oscars have a habit of drowning some films with awards, thus completely devaluing the tiny golden statuette ("Oh, you won an Oscar? Well, The Artist won five. Congratulations - now get to the back")
I can't really comment on the nominees since, predictably, hardly any of the nominees are actually out in the UK yet. I didn't see The Master because it was out for like a week in one screen (Argo also came and went with no fanfare), so I can't complain about any parts being forgotten because it could be utter drivel for all I know. The same goes for almost every single nominee.
I will say I'm very happy The Dark Knight Rises got deservedly snubbed. Its as nonsensical as the original 1960's show, only it was pretending to be The Seventh Seal. People who claim Nolan's recent films to be the most intelligent ever desperately need to see more films.
